Hyatt’s marquee luxury lifestyle brand, Thompson Hotels, continues to expand with the latest opening in Houston. It marks the fourth Thompson property to open in Texas.

Here’s what you can expect from this 172-key hotel in the heart of Space City.

Thompson Houston Details

Located downtown in Buffalo Bayou Park, Thompson Houston is a 36-story new-build hotel with a sleek glass and steel tower. The 172 rooms include 34 suites, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows, marble finishes, and warm, earthy colors. The property offers one of the city’s largest outdoor rooftops and includes an infinity pool, outdoor cabanas, and a 2,500-square-foot green space.

Another standout feature is the Thompson Spa with 6 treatment rooms, a sauna, a salon, and a 24-hour fitness center. At launch, there will be a single restaurant, Soi 7, but by the fall of 2024, there will be 2 additional eateries, Chardon, a French brasserie and Buck 40, an upscale supper club.

“We’re thrilled to open Thompson Houston and offer guests and locals an unparalleled hospitality experience in Houston,” said Ted Knighton, managing director of Thompson Houston. “With a unique design and stellar location beside Buffalo Bayou Park, we are excited to become a homebase for visitors and locals alike and what will surely be the most sought-after social space for weddings and events.”

How To Book the Thompson Houston Hotel

Thompson Houston is now open for guests and is participating in the World of Hyatt program, allowing you to earn and redeem points at the property.

The hotel is a Category 5 property, so award nights start at 17,000 points per night, up to 23,000 points per night for peak dates. Cash rates are also available starting at $400 per night for dates in March.

World of Hyatt points are one of the most lucrative loyalty currencies out there. You can earn even more World of Hyatt points by transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio. You can also earn points through welcome bonuses and spending on 1 of Hyatt’s co-branded credit cards.

Final Thoughts

Hyatt’s been on a tear of late in expanding its luxury portfolio of hotels, which includes the Thompson. This Houston property gives brand loyalists another choice in Texas. In the coming months, also expect the Thompon Palm Springs to also make its debut.
