United Airlines is offering members of its MileagePlus program the opportunity to purchase elite-qualifying points, which could bring them closer to elite status.

For a limited time, certain MileagePlus members can purchase up to 2,000 Premier Qualifying Points (PQPs), which could help renew existing status or level up, depending on your qualification progress for the year.

United is offering an opportunity for eligible MileagePlus members to earn points toward elite qualification without flying.

Between now and August 24, 2025, members who have been targeted for this offer can buy up to 2,000 PQPs. As a reminder, PQPs are one of the primary metrics for tracking progress toward elite status within the United MileagePlus program.

Flyers can qualify by achieving a combination of Premier Qualifying Flights (PQFs) and earning PQPs, or just by earning a certain number of PQPs for each status tier.

For reference, here are the requirements for each tier:

Premier Silver: 15 PQFs and 5,000 PQPs or 6,000 PQPs
Premier Gold: 30 PQFs and 10,000 PQPs or 12,000 PQPs
Premier Platinum: 45 PQFs and 15,000 PQPs or 18,000 PQPs
Premier 1K: 60 PQFs and 22,000 PQPs or 28,000 PQPs

Eligible members can purchase bundles of 400, 600, 800, 1,000, 1,500, or 2,000 PQPs through this offer at a cost of about $1.10 per PQP. We don’t typically recommend buying points — even elite-qualifying ones. However, if you’re a dedicated United flyer who’s done the math when looking at your slate of remaining flying through the end of the year and know that you’re going to come up just short of your desired tier, this could be a great opportunity to lock in the status you’ve been seeking.
