United Airlines has announced that significant improvements are coming to its Polaris business class product, including suites with sliding doors, gigantic inflight entertainment screens, luxurious finishes, and more.

However, it’s not just business class that’s getting a refresh. The carrier’s new Boeing 797-9 Dreamliners will feature “United Elevated” interiors, which will boast a complete revamp from front to back and upgrades in the Premium Plus and economy cabins.

Let’s take a look at the details.

United’s Elevated Interiors on the Boeing 787-9

United Airlines has unveiled the so-called United Elevated interior that will debut on its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which are scheduled to be delivered starting later this year.

This Elevated interior will have 2 new business class suite options, caviar service, wireless charging, Starlink Wi-Fi, 4K OLED seatback screens, and the largest number of premium seats in United’s fleet.

United expects delivery of its first Dreamliner with the Elevated interior by the end of 2025 and the first international flights from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Singapore and London in early 2026.

We already deliver a superior international experience and fly to the most places across the Atlantic and Pacific — these new innovations provide a more premium experience overall, give customers even more reasons to choose United, and set our airline up to grow into the next decade and beyond. We never stand still and are always looking for more ways to set ourselves apart from other carriers. And we’re confident this elevated experience will take international flying to new heights.

Andrew Nocella, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer at United

The first 787-9 deliveries with the Elevated interior will include:

  • 8 United Polaris Studio suites
    • 2 rows across 2 sections, arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration
  • 56 United Polaris business class suites
    • 14 rows, across 2 sections, arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration
  • 35 United Premium Plus seats
    • 5 rows arranged in a 2-3-2 configuration
  • 33 United Economy Plus seats and 90 United Economy seats
    • 15 total rows arranged in a 3-3-3 configuration

United expects at least 30 Boeing 787s with Elevated interiors to join the fleet by 2027.

All-New United Polaris Studio

Following the lead of several other carriers, United is introducing a “business-class-plus” product in the front row of each business class section on board these aircraft, known as United Polaris Studio.

United Polaris Studio suites are 25% larger than standard United Polaris seats, and most will have an ottoman with a seatbelt for guests.

Each studio will feature a 27-inch 4K OLED touchscreen television with Bluetooth connectivity, USB-C and wireless charging options, digital seat controls, quartzite tables, and a wool-blend seat with wood-grain trim.

Amenities are also upgraded for United Polaris Studio passengers and will include:

  • Exclusive hoodie pajamas and slippers (on all flights)
  • New noise-cancelling headphones powered by Meridian technology
  • Amenity kits with Perricone MD Cold Plasma Plus+ luxury skincare products
  • United-branded playing cards
  • Velvet throw pillow
  • Saks Fifth Avenue bedding (duvet, day blanket, large pillow, and cooling gel pillow)

United Polaris Studio passengers can also access an exclusive menu with Ossetra caviar amuse-bouche service, Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Champagne, specialty snack boxes, and more.

Hot Tip:

United Polaris Studio passengers will have access to the airline’s Global Reception area, receive preferred boarding alongside United Global Services customers, and be eligible for United’s tarmac transfer program.

Standard United Polaris

United Polaris is getting a glow-up, too.

New suites on aircraft with Elevated interiors will feature sliding doors for extra privacy, 19-inch 4K OLED touchscreen televisions with Bluetooth connectivity, digital seat controls, and wireless charging.

All United Polaris suites will continue to have direct aisle access but will now feature more breathable wool-blend-covered seats. The divider can be lowered all the way down on certain middle seats, giving passengers the option to sit (and lie flat) closer together, making it great for couples or parents with young children.

On the food and beverage side, the menu will get new rotating options, the addition of an Aperol Spritz to the drink menu, and the sundae cart will feature a rotation of limited-time Tillamook ice cream flavors and toppings.

United Premium Plus and United Economy

United Premium Plus passengers will see some improvements normally reserved for business class, including quartzite cocktail tables, privacy dividers with built-in reading lights, a 16-inch 4K OLED screen with Bluetooth, wireless charging, and more.

United Economy Plus and United Economy passengers on aircraft with the new Elevated interior can expect 13-inch 4K OLED screens — the largest economy screens in the world, according to United.

This is in addition to a refreshed look, Bluetooth connectivity, and a “cradling seat bottom” that moves forward as the seat reclines.

Final Thoughts

United just announced its new United Elevated interiors are coming on its new Boeing 787-9 aircraft starting later this year.

The biggest changes will be up front with the addition of United Polaris Studio suites, where new privacy doors, ottomans, caviar service, and more will elevate United’s business class experience.
