Venture X $300 Statement Credit Updates to Capital One Travel Credit

In what appears to be an immediate change, cardholders of the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card now see their annual $300 Capital One Travel credit slightly modified. The credit was previously delivered as a statement credit against any Capital One Travel purchases, but the Capital One app now indicates that it will now be redeemable as a discount directly through Capital One Travel.

What Has Changed

Eligible Capital One Venture X card primary cardholders will continue to receive the $300 annual travel credit for bookings on Capital One Travel with only the method of reimbursement changed. Instead of a statement credit received after the purchase, cardholders will now have to apply the credit at checkout.

The Capital One Venture X card earns unlimited 10x Capital One miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel and 5x Capital One miles on flights booked through Capital One Travel. Prior to these credit changes, cardholders could earn miles on their Capital One Travel bookings in addition to the travel credit of $300. With the credit now being applied as a “discount” at checkout, cardholders can no longer earn miles on the credit.

Additionally, you could previously book refundable or cancelable travel to trigger the credit and then cancel the booking without the credit reversing. Now if you cancel the booking your credit was applied against, the credit will be restored if it has not expired.

The credit can be used in its entirety for 1 purchase or across several purchases.

Your annual credit will expire on your next account open date anniversary.
