Volaris has shared the details of a significant network expansion that will add more nonstop flights to Mexico at a great cost.

The low-cost Mexican carrier has added 16 new routes to its U.S. network. Best of all, 9 of the new additions are between cities that don’t currently have a nonstop connection.

Let’s dive into the details.

Volaris Adds 16 New Routes to the U.S.

Since the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) restored Mexico’s aviation safety record to Category 1 in September 2023, Mexican airlines have been adding routes at a rapid clip.

Volaris is the latest airline to increase connectivity between the U.S. and Mexico with no fewer than 14 new routes between the 2 countries. This expansion also includes new nonstop service to both Costa Rica and El Salvador.

What’s particularly exciting is that 9 of these routes are currently unserved by any other airline. This will provide new travel opportunities for travelers on either side of the border.

Here’s a look at all the new routes, with the unique ones identified by an asterisk:

Some of these routes will see competition, particularly from American Airlines on the routes from Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Miami (Miami) and from United Airlines on routes from Houston (IAH).

However, this shouldn’t be a problem for Volaris. Its low fares will capture point-to-point passengers in these hub cities where the dominant carrier often charges hefty premiums for tickets.

With the exception of Los Angeles (LAX)-Tepic flights, these new routes are available to book now at volaris.com.

Final Thoughts

Volaris’ latest expansion in the U.S. is great news for travelers who have been considering a trip to Mexico this year. Our neighbor to the south continues to be one of the most popular destinations for U.S.-based travelers, and Volaris is providing even more opportunities to get there at a reasonable price.
