After a much-anticipated announcement, The Westin Playa Vallarta has officially opened its doors, and you can already book this new all-inclusive resort with Marriott Bonvoy points.

Award nights may be pricey, but cash rates are surprisingly reasonable considering meals, drinks, activities, entertainment, and gratuities are all included.

Here’s everything you need to know about Westin’s first all-inclusive resort in Mexico.

Westin Opens Its First All-Inclusive Resort in Mexico

Marriott is officially bringing its all-inclusive concept to Mexico with the debut of The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort. It joins the brand’s growing collection of all-inclusive resorts in destinations like Costa Rica and the Caribbean.

Located along Banderas Bay just minutes from Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR), the former Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta recently underwent a major renovation that introduced redesigned rooms and suites, upgraded pools and wellness spaces, and new dining venues.

The refreshed resort now offers more than 280 accommodations, including adults-only swim-up suites, plunge pool suites, and family-friendly studios. Guests also have access to 10 dining and cocktail concepts, plus included perks like meals, drinks, water sports, entertainment, kids’ activities, taxes, and gratuities.

The property still leans into Westin’s wellness focus, with amenities including sunrise yoga, paddleboarding, pickleball, the Heavenly Spa by Westin, and the brand’s signature WestinWORKOUT fitness studio.

Booking The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort With Points

You can now book The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort, through Marriott Bonvoy.

Cash rates are actually pretty reasonable for an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. We’re currently seeing rates starting just shy of $350 per night for double occupancy on many dates.

That pricing becomes even more attractive when you remember that rates include meals, snacks, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, activities, entertainment, taxes, service fees, and gratuities for 2 guests.

Award pricing, however, is much steeper. We’re currently seeing rates starting around 89,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

That means this could be a decent opportunity to redeem a Marriott free night certificate — especially if you have one nearing expiration and can top it off with points.

Otherwise, this is probably one of those scenarios where paying cash and saving your Marriott Bonvoy points for higher-value redemptions elsewhere makes more sense.

Luckily, it’s relatively easy to earn Marriott Bonvoy pointsMarriott offers several co-branded credit cards, each with a solid welcome bonus. You also can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards, Bilt Rewards, and American Express Membership Rewards points to Marriott at a 1:1 ratio.

Hot Tip:

Based on current pricing, you’d likely be redeeming Marriott Bonvoy points at under 0.5 cents per point at The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort. Since we value Marriott Bonvoy points at around 0.7 cents apiece, you’re generally better off saving your points for higher-value Marriott redemptions and paying cash here instead — especially given the resort’s relatively reasonable all-inclusive rates.

Final Thoughts

With the debut of The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort, Westin officially has its first all-inclusive resort in Mexico.

While Marriott Bonvoy award rates are pretty steep right now, the cash pricing is honestly very good when you factor in everything the price includes. That’s food, drinks, activities, taxes, and gratuities.

For travelers heading to Puerto Vallarta, this looks like a pretty attractive new all-inclusive option.
