WestJet is adding a new twice-weekly service from Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, to Las Vegas, Nevada. The new route will complement the already existing service out of somewhat nearby Vancouver and will be another option for Canadians to visit the convention and gambling capital of the world.

New Route to Las Vegas

The Victoria (YYJ) to Las Vegas (LAS) route hasn’t been operated since 2017, so it’s been a few years since this city in Canada has seen service to Las Vegas.

The new flights will operate twice weekly in each direction on Thursdays and Sundays starting February 1, 2024. WestJet looks to be running a mix of 737-700 and 737-800 aircraft on the route. These typically have a refurbished 2-2 configuration in business and a 3-3 configuration in economy.

Victoria is only about 60 miles from Vancouver and Seattle, but the city is situated on an island, making air service out of this capital city particularly valuable. While a number of U.S. airlines previously operated to Victoria, only Alaska Airlines remains, with regular service to Seattle.

Since Victoria is the capital of British Columbia, there’s likely lots of government traffic in and out of the city, and having access to warmer Las Vegas is particularly nice for residents of this area who can warm up during the winter or visit for year-round leisure (or business).

Hot Tip:

WestJet is a partner with Delta Air Lines, so if you’re looking to redeem miles on this new route, you can use SkyMiles for available award seats.

Final Thoughts

New service is starting between Vancouver and Las Vegas this February and will offer another gateway city for western Canadians to visit Las Vegas. While the flight will only operate a few times a week, it will still allow for non-stop opportunities to visit Sin City.
