Wyndham’s 4-Tier Award Chart Is Live: 34% of Hotels Got More Expensive Overnight

Wyndham Rewards moved to a 4-tier award chart today, September 15, 2026. The results aren’t good overall.

The entry-level free night dropped from 7,500 points to 5,000 points, and a new 45,000-point top tier joined the existing 15,000 and 30,000 tiers.

We pulled Wyndham’s full hotel list before and after the change to see which properties moved where. The result: About 34% of the 8,404 hotels are more expensive today than yesterday, 22% got cheaper, and 44% stayed at the same price.

Here’s a look at the changes that took place overnight.

Wyndham Rewards’ Change to 4 Tiers

This is the first major restructuring of the Wyndham Rewards award chart in several years, and the move was first announced back in July. Here’s the new pricing:

• Tier 1: 5,000 points per night (was 7,500)
• Tier 2: 15,000 points per night (unchanged)
• Tier 3: 30,000 points per night (unchanged)
• Tier 4: 45,000 points per night (new)

Discounted Nights (Points + Cash) refresh at each tier, too. The new bottom tier starts at 500 points plus cash, and the new top tier caps at 9,000 points plus cash.

What Got More Expensive?

Most of the damage lands on hotels that were at 15,000 points yesterday: 2,040 of them moved up to 30,000, doubling their point cost per night.

Another 62 hotels jumped from 30,000 to the new 45,000 top tier, and 2 hotels tripled in cost by leaping from 15,000 straight to 45,000. In total, 2,855 hotels are more expensive today. That’s roughly 1 in 3 across Wyndham’s entire award chart, as 34% of hotels cost more today than they did yesterday.

New 45,000-Point Tier

Just 68 hotels landed at the top tier, or about 0.8% of the chart. About half of them sit in the U.S., and the rest are spread across 17 other countries.

By state, Florida has the heaviest U.S. concentration with 13 properties, followed by New York with 6. Notable U.S. names at 45,000 points include Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek, Wyndham Boston Beacon Hill, and Semiahmoo Resort Golf & Spa in Blaine, Washington.

Internationally, the tier leans on all-inclusive beach resorts, particularly the Grand Palladium and TRS-brand properties in Punta Cana, Riviera Maya, and Costa Mujeres, plus Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana.

What Got Cheaper?

On the positive side, 1,835 hotels dropped in price. Most of the movement happened at the bottom of the chart: Tier 1’s price change means 1,337 hotels shifted from 7,500 to 5,000 points. That’s a one-third points savings per night at Wyndham’s cheapest brands, mostly Super 8, Days Inn, Microtel, and Howard Johnson properties.

The bigger drops are rarer but more dramatic. For example, 50 hotels moved from 30,000 to 15,000, cutting their price in half. Additionally, 8 hotels went from 30,000 all the way down to 5,000, a 6x reduction. That last group includes Wyndham Corfu Acharavi in Greece, Baymont by Wyndham Montreal Airport, Ramada by Wyndham Istanbul Airport Arnavutkoy, The Dylan, a Baymont by Wyndham in Seattle, and Olive Tree Inn & Suites, a Howard Johnson by Wyndham in San Luis Obispo, California.

Another 440 hotels moved from 15,000 to 5,000, cutting their cost by two-thirds. That’s good news if you regularly redeem Wyndham points at midmarket properties.

What Does This Mean for Your Points?

The new pricing is in effect for all bookings made from today onward. If your target hotel got cheaper, you’ll pay the new lower price. If it got more expensive, you’ll pay the new higher rate. There’s no grandfathering window for new bookings.

Existing bookings are protected. Wyndham will honor the points total you already redeemed, so a stay you locked in yesterday at a hotel that jumped from 30,000 to 45,000 doesn’t cost you any extra points. Better still, if your existing booking is at a hotel that got cheaper, Wyndham will refund the difference to your account. That reimbursement is expected in the near future.

Final Thoughts

About 1 in 3 Wyndham award hotels got more expensive, roughly 1 in 5 got cheaper, and just under half stayed the same. The 45,000-point top tier is small, but it captures some of Wyndham’s most valuable U.S. redemptions, such as Caesars Palace Las Vegas. The 5,000-point bottom tier is a real win, especially for road-trip stays at Super 8, Days Inn, and Microtel.
