Delsey is one of the top players in the luggage market. Since the 1940s, the brand has made a name for itself as a go-to for affordable, reliable bags that can last years.

Whether you regularly travel for business or just need a strong bag for your yearly family vacations, Delsey offers plenty of options, including the Titanium Hardside line we’ll be looking at in this article.

Delsey’s Titanium Hardside luggage line is a versatile luggage collection that would look the part being rolled into a business meeting as much as it would into a beachside hotel.

The case has a sleek appearance, and what it lacks in distinct style, it more than makes up for in space. With a vast interior and multiple pockets, organizing your packing is a dream.

Delsey Titanium Hardside Luggage Review

For this review, we tested the medium-sized bag in the Titanium Hardside collection that opens like a clamshell.

It’s a sleek and understated piece of luggage, with the full collection including both carry-on and checked pieces. The medium-sized case provides ample space for a week’s worth of clothing.

Delsey Titanium Hardside Style and Look

With its clean lines and neutral color, this luggage has a classic and near-timeless appeal. While we’ve seen prettier bags on the market, some of these pieces may date over time.

It has a durable and functional design that’s meant to be just as appropriate on a business trip as a family vacation. The metallic finish has a sophisticated look, but it does mean the case exterior scratches easily.

The vertical lines add a touch of detail to the overall design and provide grip when handling the case. A few color options are available (silver, black, or red), and all have subtle black accents.

Delsey Titanium Hardside Size and Compartments

Weighing 9.4 pounds, the suitcase is pretty average as far as its weight is concerned. While it would have been nice if it were a little lighter for airline weight limits, we’ve definitely seen heavier suitcases on the market.

The bag is pretty standard as far as the actual space it provides as well. Measuring 27.25 x 18 x 11.75 inches, including handles and wheels, it falls well within airline size limits for checked bags.

We could fit what we needed in the bag in its normal state, but we tested the built-in expander and were pleasantly surprised to see it adds an extra 2 inches of packing room.

Most hardside checked bags only have a single main compartment that’s usually divided into 2 areas, but that’s not the case here. In this bag, 3 smaller pockets can be used for smaller items.

One side of the main compartment has vertical compression straps, perfect for keeping clothes flat and preventing them from bunching together.

While this does prevent some wrinkles, we don’t recommend counting on it to keep your clothing completely pressed and pristine, so keep that in mind if you’re packing formal wear.

The other large storage section can be zipped shut via the fabric dividing panel. These 2 sections work together to ensure your items don’t spill out of the bag when you open it.

We really liked that there were 3 smaller pockets to store items that could otherwise get lost. However, if you pack the main compartments until they’re full, you’ll find the pocket space restricted.

The case has 2 pockets for a pair of shoes, which is handy for keeping them packed separately from any clean clothes.

Delsey Titanium Hardside Durability and Materials

Part of the bag’s appeal is its durability. The entire outer shell is made of polycarbonate plastic, which can withstand bumps, cracks, and dents from being tossed or knocked around while traveling.

However, we didn’t like the shell’s finish. While many hard bags have some sort of texture to help keep them in pristine condition, this suitcase had an untextured metallic finish, which we found scuffed and scratched easily, even when we were careful.

The interior lining is soft and quiet, but it can’t be unzipped to wash, unfortunately.

Delsey Titanium Hardside Wheels

Delsey was the first luggage company to add wheels to its suitcases, so it’s not surprising that they’re one of the strong points of this case.

All 4 can spin completely, and we found they could glide smoothly and quietly on most floors, including carpet. The wheels are thick and durable, so we’re pretty sure they’ll stand the test of time. However, that’s another reason to be careful that all 4 roll while you’re walking with the bag since dragging it could cause extra wear and tear.

When it came to maneuverability, we found that the Titanium case didn’t respond as well when changing direction.

Delsey Titanium Hardside Handles

The medium hardside in the Titanium collection has 3 different handles: 1 for rolling and 2 for lifting or carrying.

We definitely preferred using the telescopic handle over the other 2. It has 2 different height settings, which can be adjusted via an easy-push button, and even when fully extended, it seemed sturdy and secure.

To lift or carry the case, there are handles on the top and and on the side, but they’re a little bare bones. They’re made of hard plastic and have little cushioning to make them comfortable to hold.

Delsey Titanium Hardside Locks and Zips

We were impressed by the bag’s security. It has a built-in TSA lock that is both easy to set and easy to access, so we didn’t have to worry about using a separate lock to keep our belongings safe.

Delsey zippers are generally a strong point, and that’s no different with this suitcase. Both the expander zipper and the one used to open and close the bag are smooth and didn’t catch, get stuck, or lose traction during our tests.

We’re confident the zipper wouldn’t accidentally open on its own, and slotting the zipper pulls into the lock stops them from catching on anything.

Brand Warranty and Customer Service

Like all Delsey luggage, the Titanium Hardside line is covered by a 5-year limited warranty. That guarantees you’re covered if there’s a defect in how your case was made or any problems due to the craftsmanship of the wheels, zippers, extensions, or handles.

We found this warranty to be more or less in line with those offered by other brands. We particularly appreciate that Delsey requires no registration to activate the warranty. All you have to do is keep your receipt and the documentation that comes with the bag.

Other Delsey Titanium Hardside Luggage

In addition to the medium-sized checked bag we looked at in this review, the line also has a larger checked bag available for people who need more room or are going on longer trips. There are also 2 different carry-on sizes, which should have you covered for domestic and international cabin-bag allowances.

We think the collection is pretty complete as it is, but we’d be interested in seeing if it expands to include more specialty pieces like a trunk case or tech-specific bag.

Final Thoughts

Delsey is one of the oldest luggage brands on the market, and over the years, it’s become one of the more reliable and innovative companies in the industry.

The medium checked bag in the Titanium Hardside line is a perfect example of why Delsey is such a beloved pillar when it comes to suitcases. If you frequently check a bag for shorter trips and are looking for a good all-in-one bag, this case has you covered. However, we weren’t a fan of the carry handles, and we had to be careful not to scuff it even with typical use.
