I just turned 70 two days ago. Makes one think how one wants to live the rest of one’s life. What does one want to do in that last decade where maybe you are still able to more or less function well and still have good use of your mental faculties. So, I’m thinking, what do I want to learn more about. What activity do I want to immerse myself in? What activity do I wish I had done but never had the time to do so.

I have recently become extremely interested in and involved in wine. Not just drinking wine. But tasting wine, thinking about it, thinking about how a farmer made something so unique, so true to its terroir, so haunting, so worldly. Yet perhaps the vigneron has never traveled more than a hundred miles from his home.

I am finding the world of wine truly fascinating. So, what I would like to do is travel to France. To immerse myself into the stories of wine. Not to Bordeaux, nor Burgundy. But to a less-traveled part of France where one doesn’t need to make appointments in advance to taste with the owner/winemaker. Where the patron will be interested in sharing with me what are normally hidden details. How he handled a week of heavy rain. How he fought off aphids in the vineyard and will look closely at the vines.

I will not have a car. I will travel slowly in one single area of France. Perhaps the Jura. Where I can walk to 2 or 3 vineyards per day. Slowly exploring not only the estates but the vineyards themselves. I will compare soils, compare vineyard techniques, try to learn from the vignerons why these things make a difference. And if I get too tired at the end of the day, I can stick my thumb out and hitch back to my lodging. This will give me a chance to truly immerse myself into something new. In a way, allow me to start a new life at 70.

While Upgraded Points wants everyone to know how to maximize credit card points and therefore the amount they can save on vacations, we also realize that most of us need to get away from life’s daily stressors right now. That’s why we’re hosting a contest to offer $1,000 in cash to 1 lucky winner to go towards their dream vacation. All you have to do to enter is describe your dream vacation and why we should pick you to win the $1,000, and we will pick our favorite!

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a lover of all things travel to share their dream vacation. Does your dream vacation include soaking up sun on the beach, backpacking in the Alps, a cross-country road trip, or touring Europe? We want to hear, in detail, your perfect vacation, whether it be a few days or 2 weeks, and how you would use the $1,000 towards that vacation.

How To Apply

To enter the contest, contestants must fill out all fields of the entry form. The form also requests the contestant’s name and email address so that we can notify the winner once one has been selected. Applicants must be 18 years or older and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to apply.

Any contestants who do not complete the entry form will not have an official entry into the contest.

The deadline for contest entries is December 24, 2021. Contestants will need to submit their dream vacation via the entry form below by that date in order to be considered. After this date, no further entries to the contest will be permitted.

What You’ll Get

The winner will be announced on January 7, 2022, and will receive a $1,000 cash payment.

Contest Terms and Conditions

The rules of the competition and prize details are as follows:

• The promoter of this competition is Upgraded Points whose principal office is located at 1401 Lavaca St. #935, Austin, Texas 78701.
• Employees of Upgraded Points or their family members or anyone else connected in any way with the competition or helping to set up the competition shall not be permitted to enter the competition.
• Persons must be at least 18 years old, or otherwise have reached the age of majority under the laws of the state where you reside, in order to participate.
• Only residents of the United States are eligible to participate.
• VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
• There is NO ENTRY FEE AND NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER THIS COMPETITION. Any purchase or consideration otherwise given by entrants will not improve one’s chances of winning.
• Route to entry for the competition and details of how to enter are available via www.UpgradedPoints.com. Individuals may enter to win by clicking on the participation link on Upgraded Points website. Upon clicking the participation link, entrants will be asked to provide their name and contact information so that Upgraded Points can notify the winner of the results.
• Closing date for entry will be December 24, 2021. After this date, no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
• Only 1 winner will be selected from the entire pool of eligible entries. The selection process will be at the discretion of Upgraded Points.
• The winner will be notified by email and/or letter within 14 business days at the closing date. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 1 day of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
• Upgraded Points will notify the winner when and where the prize can be collected.
• No cash alternative to the prize will be offered. The prize is not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and Upgraded Points reserves the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
• The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current federal and state data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
• The winner’s name will be available 28 days after the closing date by sending a stamped addressed envelope to the following address:
