I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Taipei in Taiwan for 2 weeks in June 2026 during the 2026 Rotary International Convention. It was a convenient location for attending the convention and exploring Taipei, and my suite upgrade offered extra space. Here’s what you should know about Grand Hyatt Taipei before booking.

Booking Grand Hyatt Taipei

Grand Hyatt Taipei is a World of Hyatt Category 3 property, with award nights priced at around 12,000 points per night. Nightly cash rates for my stay would have exceeded $600 due to the convention I was attending — about $8,400 for my entire 2-week stay. I redeemed 168,000 points at 5 cents per point, well above the Upgraded Points average value of 1.4 cents per point.

If you’re considering a cash stay, this hotel can also be booked with American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts for added benefits.

World of Hyatt

1. It Has a Terrific Downtown Location

Grand Hyatt Taipei is in the Xinyi Planning District, directly across the street from Taipei 101, and has a covered walkway to the tower. Grand Hyatt Taipei is one of the best-located hotels in Taipei.

The tower connects to covered walkways leading to nearby shopping centers, which feature numerous luxury name-brand stores.

About a 10-minute walk from the hotel is the Farglory Dome, also known as the Taipei Dome, home to a variety of sporting events and other large-arena shows.

It’s about a 15-minute walk to Xiangshan, also known as Elephant Mountain, which offers a hike to the top for unobstructed views of Taipei 101 and the city. Also within walking distance is the National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, and the Four Four South Village (Sisinancun). A nearby MRT station offers subway access to additional attractions in the city.

2. Consider Arranging an Airport Transfer

As my arrival day approached, I contacted the hotel about how to get from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to the property and was informed that public transit between the airport and the hotel was not easy. I was arriving on an evening flight and, with jet lag, I wanted to ensure I could get to the hotel as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The best option was a $90 hotel limousine pickup, which I opted for, and I was glad I did. The ride downtown took about 30 minutes, and the driver dropped me right at the hotel entrance, which was incredibly convenient, considering I had more items than usual.

3. My Suite Upgrade Was Worth It

Because I planned a 2-week stay, I applied 2 of my Hyatt suite upgrade awards to the stay. These upgrades can only be applied to stays of up to 7 nights, so I made 2 separate back-to-back reservations and had Hyatt apply the upgrade to each. Then, I merged the reservations so I wouldn’t have to move rooms.

Hot Tip:

Grand Hyatt Taipei is next to one of the city’s main convention centers and can book up quickly, so if you’d like a suite, upgrade your room far in advance to ensure availability.

A powder room was on the right as I walked into the Grand Suite King room, and the living room was straight ahead.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Entryway Bathroom
My suite had 2 bathrooms; this was the entryway half-bathroom.

There was a small bar area with a minifridge and complimentary bottled water replenished daily.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Suite Fridge
I had an unlimited supply of water in the refrigerator each day.

There was a large desk with 2 chairs and multiple wall-mounted power outlets for charging.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Suite Desk
A nice, large working desk with plenty of power outlets helped me stay connected throughout my stay.

Beyond that was a large couch and a large-screen television. I like it when hotels have a couch in suites where you can rest and relax without going to bed.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Suite Living Area
I loved the suite’s full living area separate from the bedroom.

The bedroom was separated by a sliding door. In the bedroom, there was 1 chair, a king bed, and 2 nightstands. I wish the power outlets were a bit more accessible, but there was 1 outlet on either side, hidden underneath the nightstand.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Bedroom in Suite
The bedroom featured a king-size bed, a sitting chair, and a walk-in closet.

On the far end was a closet where I stored my luggage.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Closet in Suite
The suite had a walk-in closet where I could keep my suitcase and laundry completely out of the main room.

The master bathroom was very large and featured a separate toilet room, a stand-up shower with pump toiletries, a separate soaking tub, and a wrap-around vanity with plenty of counter space.

A large bathroom rounded out this huge suite.

4. The Grand Club Was Decent

Hyatt lounges in Asia are among the best in the world, and Grand Hyatt Taipei has a very nice Grand Club space on the 22nd floor. I had free access to the Grand Club with my Hyatt Globalist status.

Breakfast is offered every day from 7 to 10 a.m. (10:30 a.m. on weekends), and there’s an evening cocktail offering from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. daily.

The Grand Club is available as a paid upgrade or free to Hyatt Globalist guests.

Entering the lounge, there’s a long string of seating along the windows, featuring couches, chairs, tables, and some high-top tables.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Club Round Table
The Grand Club was a relaxing space to unwind.

The food is all the way to the right, with an open kitchen area featuring an action station staffed by a chef during meal hours. During breakfast, the chef made French toast, pancakes, and eggs to order, and a variety of other hot dishes were displayed on the counter, including potatoes, sausages, and vegetables.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Morning Spread in Club
Morning offerings included several hot and cold items.

There was a good selection of meats, cheeses, pastries, breads, and fruits, and the refrigerators were stocked with yogurt and juices.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Dips in Club
Breakfast is served until 10 a.m. on weekdays and 10:30 a.m. on weekends.

During the evening spread, the action station usually featured a hot dish, such as dumplings or noodles, along with soups, stews, chili, guacamole, salsa, chips, and other items. There was also a selection of cheeses and meats, along with a salad bar and finger sandwiches. It wasn’t a full dinner, but enough to get by in a pinch.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Evening Plate
In the evening, the options were usually not enough for a full meal.

There were a few evenings when the club offerings weren’t appealing, so I opted to eat dinner elsewhere or order room service. The club didn’t seem to rotate food options; it was not uncommon for items to repeat, even every couple of days.

Soft drinks and coffee were available throughout the day, and evenings featured a selection of pour-your-own alcohol with hard liquor, beer, and wine.

5. Breakfast Was a Highlight of Dining

The hotel offered numerous restaurants for every budget and taste, including:

  • Baguette: bakery
  • Bel Air: European
  • Café: buffet
  • Cha Lounge: vegetarian
  • Cheers: All-day dining
  • Irodori: Japanese
  • Pearl Liang: Cantonese
  • Yun Jin: Chinese
  • Ziga Zaga: Italian

Room service was also available.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Chinese Restaurant
Grand Hyatt Taipei offers a variety of dining options, including the Cha Lounge.

Even though I had Grand Club access as a Globalist, I could eat breakfast at Café. The Grand Club offered a much quieter atmosphere but limited choices, and the restaurant offered more options but a much busier atmosphere.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Breakfast Seating
Breakfast at Café runs from 6:30 to 10 a.m. on weekdays and to 10:30 a.m. on weekends.

I had breakfast at Café on several occasions to access a wider menu. It was busy during breakfast hours, and it was sometimes difficult to get a table.

Grand Hyatt Tapei French Toast Station
I loved the bakery and French toast station with its fantastic berry sauce for the pancakes and toast.

The restaurant had different stations scattered throughout, each station offering different types of food. With the stations spread across the restaurant, I had to navigate crowds and lines to get from one to the next.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Omelette Station
Made-to-order omelets and eggs were offered every morning.

One of my favorite stations was the Asian area, with a variety of dumplings, noodles, soups, and other delicacies. I enjoyed trying a variety of local dishes alongside some traditional Western dishes.

Grand Hyatt Tapei Dumplings being Refilled
There were lots of soup dumplings and noodle options during breakfast.

This restaurant had small signs that said “occupied” or “available,” so servers knew I was still using the table when I got up to get food.

6. It Had a Great Fitness Center and Pool

The fitness center has extensive cardio, weight-lifting, and training equipment, and there are several private studio rooms for group classes, yoga, and dance, though I didn’t see any advertisements about when these sessions were offered. The fitness center is open 24 hours a day.

Grand Hyatt Taipei Fitness Center
The fitness center has a wide variety of equipment and is open all day.

The Club Oasis Spa is down the hall from the fitness center, offering treatments and massage sessions. A 60-minute massage was about $100.

Grand Hyatt Taipei Club Oasis
Grand Hyatt Taipei offers an on-site spa with a range of treatments.

The hotel’s pool is outside the fitness center and feels more like a resort pool than one at a city-center hotel. Numerous chairs and tables surround the pool, and there’s a small outdoor bar area. It was a great place to cool off from Taipei’s heat.

Final Thoughts

I was happy with my stay at Grand Hyatt Taipei and would not hesitate to return. The location was convenient, just steps away from Taipei 101 and with easy access to other attractions throughout the city. As a Category 3 hotel, this was a great place to redeem points, and I’d definitely use it as my go-to should I return to Taipei.
