An Inside Look at Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue in Florida [Review]

When I travel from my home in South Florida to Naples on Florida’s Gulf Coast for a local staycation, I usually stay at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Estero, just 30 minutes north of downtown Naples. It’s one of my favorite Hyatt properties and a popular choice for snowbirds and locals.

During the winter holidays, my family and I sought a vacation different from lounging at the resort all day. We wanted to explore the charming downtown Naples area and nearby beaches, so we booked a stay at the Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue.

Here’s how our stay went and what to expect if you stay here.

Booking Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue

Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue distinguishes itself from typical Hyatt Houses with its unique charm, and its cash and award pricing reflects this distinction. Additionally, its location in the heart of Naples, a popular warm-weather destination for snowbirds and Floridians, contributes to its popularity as a hotel.

A variety of room options are available, ranging from a 328-square-foot King Bed Den Guestroom to a 937-square-foot 2-bedroom kitchen suite with 2 king beds. I booked a 2 Queen Den Guestroom using World of Hyatt points, but since I hold World of Hyatt Globalist elite status and had a Suite Upgrade Award (SUA) that was about to expire, I decided to use my upgrade award to enhance our stay.

This allowed us to upgrade to a suite with a kitchen and 2 queen beds, which would have cost $600 if booked with cash. This gave my family of 5 more space to spend time together.

The cash rates at the Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue begin at $150 per night during the summer months but can rise to $600 per night during the holiday season and winter months, a time when many travelers from the Northeast and Midwest regions of the U.S. come to Florida seeking sunshine and sand.

On the other hand, as a Category 5 hotel, award nights start at 17,000 points per night and can reach up to 23,000 points per night. During our visit between Christmas and New Year’s 2024, we noticed the rates were quite high, starting at $420 per night.

Since the cash cost was beyond my budget for a short staycation, I decided to redeem World of Hyatt points at a rate of 23,000 points per night.

We value World of Hyatt points at 1.5 cents each. By redeeming 23,000 points per night, I achieved a value of 1.8 cents per point. Although this wasn’t my most impressive World of Hyatt redemption, I understood it was peak season for the area and anticipated elevated rates.

This is also why the Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue is one of the best Hyatt House hotels to book with points.

Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue Location

Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue is just under a mile from downtown Naples, where you’ll find plenty of shops and restaurants along the 5th Avenue strip, plus other attractions like the Naples Pier and the Naples Zoo.

Naples Beach is only a quick 7-minute drive from the hotel, and you can reach the lovely beaches in Marco Island and Fort Myers in less than an hour’s drive.

The hotel is about 32 miles from the nearest airport, Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), and it takes around 40 minutes to get there by car.

Naples Municipal Airport (APF) is conveniently right next to the hotel, making it a great spot for AvGeeks eager to enjoy some planespotting. However, this small airport mainly caters to private jets, charter flights, and smaller aircraft instead of commercial airlines.

If you’re heading from Miami or Fort Lauderdale to the Gulf side of Florida and into Naples during your Southern Florida vacation, it’s an easy drive, taking just under 2 hours, depending on traffic.

Check-In

We drove from Fort Lauderdale via I-75 North (commonly known as Alligator Alley) and arrived at the Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue around lunchtime.

The hotel had an on-site parking garage that required a room key to enter and exit. When we arrived, we parked in the garage and picked up a ticket from the machine at the entrance.

We parked on the third level, hauled our bags down the elevator, and returned to the first-floor lobby, where the check-in counter was.

The lobby was modern, with a beautiful Christmas tree nicely adorned next to the check-in desk.

The lobby had seating in 2 distinct spaces with additional seating near the fireplace.

I went to the check-in desk, and the associate requested my ID to begin the check-in process. I gave her The World of Hyatt Credit Card from my wallet to cover incidentals. Rewards Center

Just behind the check-in counter was a small refrigerator stocked with Aquafina water bottles for World of Hyatt elite status members. With my status, I got 2 complimentary bottles daily.

Surprisingly, the check-in associate did not acknowledge my World of Hyatt Globalist status. Still, she efficiently checked me in and provided a few key cards before we made our way up the elevator to our room on the third floor.

The Room

I booked a 2 Queen Den Guestroom (there is also a King Bed Guestroom), which is the assigned room type for standard points redemptions. I redeemed 23,000 points per night and used a Suite Upgrade Award (SUA) to upgrade to a 1-bedroom suite with 2 queen beds, a separate living space, and a fully equipped kitchen.

I had looked over the room layout before arriving, so I was excited to see what awaited me when I opened the door to our suite.

When I first entered the suite, I was struck by the large living room space, which had an L-shaped couch that transforms into a sofa bed and can comfortably accommodate 2 extra children or 1 adult if necessary.

In front of the sofa bed was a sideboard topped with a 42-inch TV.

The kitchen was deeper into the room and featured a full-size refrigerator and freezer.

We didn’t use the refrigerator much, but we appreciated the ability to store and heat food since we traveled with our preschooler.

A high-top table surrounded by chairs was in the heart of the kitchen.

I liked the variety of cookware, pans, and glasses and thought it added to the Hyatt House brand’s purpose of providing a home away from home.

Although we didn’t cook any meals at the hotel, it was nice to see plenty of kitchen essentials, such as a stovetop and microwave, available for us if we wanted to.

The kitchen window faced the pool area, and underneath were the sink, dishwasher, and additional kitchen supplies within the cabinets.

On top of the kitchen sink counter was a coffee maker, complete with coffee pods, cream, and sugar.

The main bedroom featured 2 queen beds and a privacy door, which created a cozy separation from the living room.

A full-size closet was conveniently in front of 1 of the queen beds. Inside was a safe, hangers, an iron, an ironing board, and more blankets.

In front of the other queen bed was a dresser perfect for storing clothing.

A flat-screen TV was mounted on the wall between both beds.

Between the 2 queen beds was a nightstand with an alarm and a lamp, as well as power outlets for charging electronic devices.

The lone bathroom featured a single sink with a mirror beside the toilet.

If you’ve checked out my reviews before, you know how much I value the water pressure test at every hotel, whether it’s a 5-star luxury resort or a cozy extended-stay spot.

This impressive shower outperformed the shower pressure at some fancier hotels I’ve visited lately.

There were full-size bottles of shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner by KenetMD inside the shower.

Overall, my family of 5 found our spacious suite, equipped with all the necessary amenities, to be a comfortable home away from home.

Amenities

Typically, Hyatt House hotels offer just the basics in terms of amenities, but the Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue has a few extra features worth noting.

Pool

Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue boasts a waterfront outdoor pool, providing guests with a beautiful setting and picturesque views.

The pool area resembles one of a larger resort, featuring numerous lounge chairs and cabanas available for rent.

Cabanas were available for rent at $199 per day, including a 10% discount on food and beverages, 4 bottles of water, VIP pool seating for 2, and cabana service.

The pool overlooks the Gordon River and features a Jacuzzi and a fire pit, complemented by ample seating.

I went early in the morning to take photos of the pool area, which was empty, but by mid-morning, the Jacuzzi was full of guests.

With Naples Municipal Airport just a short distance from the hotel (approximately 3 miles), we had ample opportunities to see and hear planes landing from our loungers.

The pool operates every day from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Gym

I worked out at the 24-hour-a-day gym on the first floor. It was primarily equipped with free weights and treadmills, although it also had a few exercise machines.

Despite its modest size, I felt comfortable working out with 2 other guests.

However, if 5 or more individuals worked out simultaneously, it could feel crowded.

Boat Rental

Although the Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue doesn’t directly offer boat rentals, Captain Joey D. Charters is on-site. Guests staying at the Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue can easily book a boat without leaving the property.

Guests can rent boats from the hotel’s marina, steps from the pool. The marina features deck boats and pontoons perfect for discovering Naples’s waterways. Rentals can be made by the hour, for half a day, or a full day.

Business Center

One morning, I needed a computer to sign some important documents, as I couldn’t complete the signatures from my phone. I headed down to the lobby and inquired at the front desk about the availability of the business center, which consists of 2 desktop computers on the ground floor.

They mentioned that the computers were free for guests, so I could access my email and e-sign the documents without any issues.

Parking

Like most limited-service hotels, the Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue does not offer valet parking. However, the hotel features an on-site parking garage conveniently connected to the hotel. The hotel charges $27 per night for parking, but the fee is waived when you book your stay with points as a Discoverist, Explorist, or Globalist member.

Wi-Fi

All hotel guests receive complimentary Wi-Fi access in guest rooms and public areas. It worked great during my visit, both within the hotel and outside by the pool.

Food and Beverage

While the city of Naples and neighboring areas have many eateries to choose from, the hotel has a couple that are worth checking out if you’re staying on the property and want to spend time there.

Latitude 26

Latitude 26 is the main on-site restaurant at Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue.

It offers a mix of American, Caribbean, and Continental cuisine.

Latitude 26 has a sports bar vibe indoors and an outdoor dining option by the pool deck.

It’s open daily for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and guests can take in the lovely views of the pool and marina by sitting outside or watching a game on one of the several televisions inside by the bar.

The menu offers a selection of dishes, such as seafood chowder, salads, and blackened fish wraps.

Morning Spread

Breakfast at Hyatt House hotels, including the Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue, is often defined as the complimentary morning spread, which includes hot items like scrambled eggs and breakfast meats and cold items like fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereal.

Breakfast is served every day from 7 to 10 a.m.

On our first morning, we got there a little later than usual for breakfast, and the options were quite disappointing. The majority of the apple juice and orange juice had been consumed.

There was plenty of cereal available, although our family tends to desire hot items for breakfast.

The breakfast meats didn’t look very appealing, and the breakfast buffet seemed sparse since most of it was consumed during the busier breakfast hour of 8 a.m. until 9 a.m., leaving the selections a little low.

However, I got some fruit and a muffin for my preschool-aged daughter to hold her over.

Knowing what to expect, we went out for brunch on the second morning.

H Market

H Market is a convenient 24/7 grab-and-go spot in the hotel and at all Hyatt House properties. If you’re in a hurry and need something quick, you can stop by H Market next to the front desk and conveniently charge it to your room.

It had a variety of quick snack options and travel essentials for purchase, including prepackaged sandwiches, refreshments, toiletries, and over-the-counter medications.

Service

Aside from the front desk, the only other encounter I had at the hotel with staff was with the cleaning team at breakfast, who were very friendly and quick to help clear and clean tables for the influx of visitors wishing to enjoy a complimentary breakfast. Throughout my 2-night visit, the service was both professional and helpful.

Final Thoughts

Being a local Floridian, I understand why the Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue is such a great choice for travelers coming to the area. This Hyatt House is unique, with a fantastic location for exploring Naples and nearby popular towns like Marco Island and Fort Myers. Plus, it’s just a short 1.5-hour drive to the beautiful barrier islands of Captiva and Sanibel off Florida’s southwest coast.

The property features a spacious pool with a Jacuzzi and several cabanas for rent, giving it a resort-like vibe rather than a quick-service hotel with a small pool. The resort ambiance created a sense of being on a tropical vacation. As a World of Hyatt Globalist, the benefits associated with this status enhanced the experience far beyond what a Hyatt House typically offers.

While we enjoyed the location for exploring downtown Naples, I’ll always prefer the nearby Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Estero for my quarterly visits to the Gulf Coast.
