I regularly travel to Bangkok, Thailand, and I found myself back in the city in July 2025 as a stop on a round-the-world business class ticket. Bangkok has quickly become one of my favorite cities in the world thanks to its world-class nightlife, fantastic night markets, and incredible cuisine. It also has plenty of incredible hotels at relatively affordable prices.

I began looking at some properties a few days before I arrived in Bangkok. I was surprised to see a Bangkok Hilton property I had never heard of before. So, I decided to give Metropolis Suites Bangkok, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, a chance on this trip.

Read on for my full review on why you should consider this solid Hilton property if you visit Bangkok.

Booking Metropolis Suites Bangkok

Although I stayed with a friend for most of my time in Bangkok this time, I needed a hotel for the first night. I considered properties I had not already stayed at across 4 major hotel chains: Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, and Marriott.

After narrowing down some options, I selected Metropolis Suites Bangkok, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. Although the hotel has been around for quite some time, it only recently joined the Hilton portfolio in December 2024.

Cash rates at the property were relatively cheap, as a standard room could be booked for as low as ฿2,640 ($81). Since I had never stayed at a Tapestry Collection by Hilton property, I was unsure if the prices reflected the brand.

Paying Cash vs. Points

Although I was satisfied with the cash price, I needed to compare it to the points price before booking to determine which option offered better value.

Metropolis Suites Bangkok points price
Points cost for Metropolis Suites Bangkok. Image Credit: Hilton

A standard King Studio room could be booked for 20,000 Hilton Honors points. According to our valuations, Hilton Honors points are worth 0.5 cents per point, making 20,000 Hilton Honors points worth $100.

Since the cash price of $81 was less than the value of the points, an award redemption would have been a poor use of Hilton Honors points. I decided it would be better to book these nights by paying cash.

I booked a King Studio room, which was the cheapest room available. I hoped my Hilton Honors Diamond status would get me upgraded to a nicer room.

The total price for this 1-night stay was ฿2,824 ($87), including taxes and fees.

As with all my Hilton stays, I paid with the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card*, which earns 14x points on Hilton purchases.

Metropolis Suites Bangkok Location

Metropolis Suites Bangkok is on Soi Phrom Si 1, near the intersection with Sukhumvit 39, in Bangkok’s nightlife district of Sukhumvit. The property is a 12-minute walk from the Phrom Phong Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) station, which easily connects to the rest of Bangkok.

Nearby attractions include some of Bangkok’s most luxurious shopping malls: EmporiumEmQuartier, and EmSphere. The Terminal 21 shopping mall is just 1 BTS station away.

Getting There

Metropolis Suites Bangkok is a 50-minute drive from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). However, you can use Bangkok’s efficient and reasonably priced public transportation, although the journey takes slightly longer.

You can take the Airport Rail Link from the airport to the Phaya Thai BTS station. Then, you can change to the Green Line at Phaya Thai and ride the BTS SkyTrain to the Phrom Phong BTS station.

From there, it is a short walk to the hotel, although this may be difficult if you have a lot of baggage. The hotel has a complimentary on-demand tuk-tuk service between the station and the hotel, but I don’t recommend relying on it (more on this below).

Checking In

I ordered a Grab taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport to take me to the property. Due to Bangkok’s notoriously bad traffic, the journey took slightly over an hour. We arrived at the hotel around 2 p.m., an hour before the hotel’s official check-in time.

As we arrived at the property, we entered through a covered drop-off area. A bellman greeted me and took my bag through the hotel lobby to the check-in counter. Outside, in front of the lobby doors, a large floral art display was on a table. The entire wall behind the display was illuminated with golden panels.

The wall looked incredible, especially when lit up at night.

I proceeded straight through the doors to the check-in desk and was greeted by a staff member who welcomed me to the hotel with a smile.

The hotel’s check-in desk.

The front desk agent politely requested my passport for identification and quickly located and confirmed my reservation. She thanked me for being a Hilton Honors Diamond member and told me the hotel had upgraded me to a 2-Bedroom Deluxe Suite.

Although I arrived before the official check-in time, she said the room was ready immediately. She informed me that Hilton Diamond members can enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast and a late checkout at the hotel.

She then mentioned that I could receive a 4 p.m. late checkout, to which I agreed. Lastly, she requested a credit card for incidental charges. I handed her my Hilton Aspire card, which I use for all my Hilton charges.

The front desk agent then handed me the room key cards and a complimentary drink voucher, which I could use for a free beverage from the grab-and-go menu.

Bottom Line:

Overall, the check-in process was incredibly efficient. The front desk representative was efficient and smiled throughout. I was delighted that the hotel had proactively upgraded me to a much nicer room, even though I was staying alone.

Elite Benefits

As a Hilton Honors Diamond elite member, I received several benefits at the hotel:

  • Upgrade to a 2-Bedroom Deluxe Suite
  • Complimentary continental breakfast (for up to 2 guests)
  • Complimentary late 4 p.m. checkout
  • Welcome drink voucher
  • Daily bottled water
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi

Lobby

Before heading to the room, I walked around the simple lobby. It had a speakeasy vibe, dim lighting, deep wood tones, dark-colored furnishings, and an overall vintage charm.

To the right of the check-in desk (and against the windows) was a small seating area with 4 identical armchairs.

There were 2 more armchairs against the wall opposite the check-in desk.

The entrance to the lobby was to the left of this seating area.

To the right of the secondary seating area was an interesting dresser designed to look like travel briefcases. Above it was artwork depicting Bangkok’s Grand Palace.

I want to get this exact dresser for myself.

To the right, a long and narrow hallway led to the elevators and the hotel’s cafe.

I loved the dark tones of the lobby atmosphere.

On the left was some vintage décor, interesting artwork, and musical art displays.

Across from the displays (and almost directly behind the check-in desk, around a corner) were the hotel’s 2 guest floor elevators. The elevators’ polished surfaces stood out in contrast against the darker tones of the rest of the hotel lobby.

The elevators were easy to spot.
Bottom Line:

Metropolis Suites Bangkok’s lobby was relatively simple. It felt like I was entering a hidden speakeasy, with dim lighting and dark tones creating a mysterious vibe.

2-Bedroom Deluxe Suite

After exploring the lobby, I took the elevator to the sixth floor. From there, I went through a few winding hallways before reaching my room, 610.

Kitchen

As I entered the room, I was immediately greeted by a massive kitchen. The full-size refrigerator was at the suite’s entrance.

The kitchen was spacious, with a deep sink, plenty of counter space, sleek cabinetry, and all the necessary appliances, including a 4-burner stove and a microwave.

The kitchen cabinets created a modern, minimalist feel, making it feel more like a high-end apartment than a hotel room.

The kitchenette area had everything.

The hotel placed 4 water bottles below the microwave, which was excellent. I immediately put the water bottles in the fridge. There was also an electric kettle.

Of course, the hotel also provided glassware and utensils. There was an entire cabinet drawer for pots and pans.

Closet

Across from the kitchen was a massive wardrobe closet, featuring 2 large sections separated by a central storage area with built-in drawers and a mirror.

There was enough space in both closets to fit every piece of clothing I own.

Living Room

I then walked into the living room section of the suite. Immediately to the left was a relatively large 4-person dining table.

The suite’s living room was behind the dining table. It featured a comfortable sofa and armchair, and a relatively large white coffee table.

Across from the sofa was a large, wall-mounted media unit offering ample storage space and featuring the first of the suite’s numerous televisions.

To the right of the living room, large windows opened to the suite’s private outdoor balcony, featuring a small seating area for 2 people.

From the balcony, I had excellent views of nearby residential buildings, office buildings, and other hotels. It was so interesting to see how much Bangkok has developed since I first visited in 2016.

The balcony also featured a laundry machine, which was a convenient addition. The machine was easy to use and provided some much-needed service.

While laundry detergent wasn’t initially provided, a quick call to the front desk resulted in some complimentary detergent being delivered to the room.

Full-Size Bedroom

After spending some time on the balcony, I walked back inside the room toward the suite’s 2 bedrooms. On the wall was a nice photo of some long-tail boats riding down the Chao Phraya River.

I first checked out the bedroom to the right, the smaller of the 2 bedrooms. Walking into the room, I saw an ample storage rack with additional pull-out cabinets below.

Immediately to the right was the smaller bedroom’s bathroom, but I first stepped into the bedroom to see what it had to offer.

The room featured a full-size bed with a small nightstand next to it. Since I had another bedroom, I opted not to use this bed.

To the left of the bed was a massive wardrobe closet, once again offering enough space to store every piece of clothing I own.

I loved the design of the wardrobe—it was thoughtfully divided to promote easy organization.

Bathroom

The bathroom featured a simple layout with a vanity, toilet, and walk-in shower.

The vanity featured a deep sink and offered plenty of counter space. The hotel thoughtfully provided generous complimentary toiletries, including toothbrushes, shower caps, shaving kits, sewing kits, and cotton buds.

King-Size Bedroom

The king-size bed was on the right side, placed between 2 identical side tables, each featuring a lamp above. The bed boasted a plush and padded headboard.

The bed had 5 pillows of varying firmness, and I appreciated the quality of the bedding. This was one of the most comfortable nights of sleep I’ve had in a hotel in quite some time.

To the side of the bed, the room’s windows offered the same views as those from the living room balcony.

My Takeaways

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the 2-bedroom suite. It had everything I could need and was comparable in size to a residential apartment. The suite’s layout was also lovely, creating a very homey atmosphere. I appreciated the upgrade as an elite member.

However, as incredible as the room was in size and layout, it desperately needed a renovation. Several furniture pieces showed visible wear, with scuffs, scratches, and signs of damage. The sofa had noticeable stains and dirt marks, and the furnishings looked quite dated and worn. The walls also had peeling paint along with visible smudges and stains.

It felt like the room hadn’t seen a proper update in over a decade, detracting from the otherwise strong experience. Fortunately, the entire hotel will undergo a complete renovation soon, which is excellent as there is so much potential.

Amenities

Metropolis Suites Bangkok has a few amenities for guests. Here’s a look at what you can expect.

Outdoor Swimming Pool

The property has a rooftop pool on the third-floor terrace. It is open daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The pool was immaculate and well-maintained, entirely enclosed by surrounding buildings. This layout created a serene, secluded atmosphere, which offered a peaceful escape from the busy city.

View of the pool from the hallway on the sixth floor.

The pool area offered lounge chairs for guests, but it felt a bit congested due to the limited space between the loungers and the surrounding pool chairs.

Fitness Center

The 24/7 fitness center was located indoors near the pool lounging area. Although relatively small, it had everything needed for a workout, including strength training and cardio equipment.

At the entrance, there was a bench and a rack with an assortment of dumbbells. A medicine ball was in the center of the gym.

To the right was a massive combination total body strength training machine.

There was also a small selection of cardio machines, including a treadmill, an elliptical, and a stationary bike.

Complimentary Tuk-Tuk Service

The hotel provides a complimentary tuk-tuk service between the hotel, the EmQuartier shopping mall, and Phrom Phong BTS Station. The shuttle leaves the property every 30 minutes between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The complimentary service is a nice touch, as the property is a 12-minute walk from the BTS Station.

The tuk-tuk service.

Unfortunately, there is no schedule for when the tuk-tuk will arrive at the shopping mall or the BTS Station. Additionally, no signage points to where the tuk-tuk stops, making it an unreliable option for those wanting to use the service to get to the hotel (especially for first-time visitors).

Food and Beverage

Metropolis Suites Bangkok does not have a full-service restaurant on-site but offers a small café with grab-and-go options. The café is accessible through the hallway past the guest-floor elevators.

Guests with Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond status and those who book rates with breakfast included can have a complimentary breakfast here.

The cafe is accessible through the hallway past the guest floor elevators and is open for breakfast daily between 6:30 and 10 a.m.

I arrived at breakfast shortly before 9 a.m. to a quiet spot, as only 2 other tables were occupied. After being seated by a restaurant staff member, I looked through the continental breakfast buffet offerings.

The first section featured some sandwiches, including a vegetable and guacamole option and a smoked chicken option.

There was an egg station, which featured scrambled and boiled eggs.

The bakery selection featured plain and chocolate-covered croissants. There was also an option to choose bi-color croissants, which looked quite appealing but didn’t taste as good as they looked. There was a limited selection of pastries, including some muffins.

The croissants were fresh.

Next up was the cereal station, which offered individual boxes, which I am not a fan of.

There was a limited selection of cereal.

There was also a cold food station, including some cold cuts and sushi. Although I love sushi for breakfast, it was not that tasty here.

At least there was some sushi.

There was also a salad bar with a fantastic selection of toppings and dressings. Below it was a small fruit section, including some apples, pears, and bananas.

Bottom Line:

Overall, the breakfast offerings were nothing special or particularly delicious, which was a shame, as a good breakfast usually rounds out a great hotel experience.

The hotel staff did not do a good job of replenishing food that was eaten. I had to ask the staff to do so, which shouldn’t have been the case, especially as breakfast was not that busy.

Service

I found the staff at Metropolis Suites Bangkok to be excellent. Although I had minimal interactions with them, they were always there to assist me with whatever I needed. The hotel staff went out of their way to ensure I had a pleasant experience.

The staff provided genuine Thai hospitality and always greeted me by name. These little gestures are always appreciated, as they differentiate good hospitality from great hospitality.

Final Thoughts

Metropolis Suites Bangkok, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, recently joined the Hilton portfolio. Although the property is in Sukhumvit, it is a walk to the closest BTS station. Thanks to my Hilton Honors Diamond elite status, I was proactively upgraded to a 2-bedroom suite. The room was excellent and provided more space than I could ever use.

The service at the property was excellent, and the staff showed true Thai hospitality. They did everything to make me feel welcome, which is always nice. Unfortunately, the breakfast was a major letdown, with a limited selection of offerings and food stations that weren’t automatically replenished.

The property has significant potential but clearly needs renovation. Still, the hotel was excellent and worth what I paid, and I would stay there again once it is refreshed.
