Sofitel is one of Accor’s luxury hotel brands, but the Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia felt more like a boutique, independent property than part of a large chain.

On top of great service and a comfortable stay, I got several value-added benefits by reserving through American Express and using my annual hotel credits. It turned a good stay into a great value because of my statement credits and on-property benefits.

Here’s a look at my 2-night stay in May 2026, plus how you can get these extra perks for yourself.

Booking Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia

There are a few ways to book the Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia. I booked through Amex’s The Hotel Collection for 2 reasons.

First, I wasn’t thrilled about options for using points in Bogotá during my stay, but I didn’t want to fork out a lot of money. Second, this hotel had extra perks beyond what The Hotel Collection normally offers.

For my 2-night stay in mid-May, the cash price was $520. However, I paid with my Platinum Card® from American Express to trigger the up to $300 prepaid hotel credit available semiannually with this card. That knocked the effective price down to $220, costing $110 per night.

Bookings in The Hotel Collection typically offer a $100 on-property credit, and a few also include perks like room upgrades, late checkout, and early check-in, when available. Beyond that, the Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia offered daily breakfast for 2 and complimentary valet parking (though I didn’t need the latter). That increased the value of my reservation.

In the end, I got breakfast for 2 days, a $100 property credit, and an upgraded room for $220 out of pocket.

As one of Accor’s luxury brands, you can also book Sofitel properties with ALL – Accor Live Limitless Reward points. You can even redeem these points at checkout from the hotel, as long as your ALL account is linked to the booking. ALL Reward points have a fixed value; you can use 1,000 points to take €20 ($23.30) off your bill.

Hot Tip:

Our guide can teach you how to use the hotel statement credit worth up to $600 annually. It’s available on the Amex Platinum card and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express.

Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia Location

The Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia sits in the Chapinero neighborhood on the east side of Colombia’s capital, specifically in the exclusive Zona T and La Cabrera areas. These areas are home to Bogotá’s high-end stores, museums, and upscale restaurants. The Four Seasons Hotel Bogota is next door.

With Bogotá’s traffic, reaching the hotel from El Dorado International Airport (BOG) can take 45 minutes to an hour by taxi.

What It’s Like Staying at Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia

Checking In

My arrival started with a great first impression. There was bumper-to-bumper traffic on the one-way street in front of the hotel, so I decided to get out of the taxi at the corner and walk about 2 minutes to the hotel’s entrance. A bellhop saw me getting a suitcase out of the trunk and ran over, offering a friendly welcome and taking it from my hand.

Inside, the 2-story lobby featured a lot of artwork and natural light, making the space feel warm. The reception was to the left.

A friendly agent smiled as we chatted through the check-in process. Since it was only noon, my room wasn’t ready yet, but she offered to hold my luggage until it was. She confirmed that I could eat lunch at the restaurant and use my on-property credit, even though I did not yet have access to my room.

Using the $100 On-Property Credit

The desk agent also provided a letter confirming my benefits through The Hotel Collection, including daily breakfast, the when-available perks, and the $100 on-property credit. I could use this at the restaurant, the bar, the spa, or for food and drinks from the minibar in my room.

After lunch and wrapping up some work, I returned to the desk to complete check-in, received more information about the hotel’s facilities, and picked up my room key.

Luxury Room 1 King Bed

I booked a Superior Room 1 Queen Bed; at check-in, I was upgraded to a Luxury Room 1 King Bed, thanks to The Hotel Collection benefits. This room typically costs an additional $50 per night above the standard room rate.

The hotel had just 102 rooms and felt very boutique. On the fourth floor (where my room was located), it often felt like I had the place to myself.

Hallway on my floor (the fourth).

I wouldn’t call this room enormous, but it was a good size and had everything I needed.

A comfortable king bed sat in the middle of the bedroom. Each side of the bed had a nightstand with a lamp, outlets, and drinking water. The side closer to the bathroom had a phone and a TV remote, while the side closer to the window had a clock radio with Bluetooth. There was a TV across from the bed, and a long bench ran the length of that wall — a great spot for my suitcase.

Hot Tip:

Turning off all the light switches at night also turned off the outlets, meaning my phone didn’t charge overnight on the first night. The top switch next to the bed controlled the outlets, so I had to remember to not flip that one the second night.

A triangular table at the partial wall separated the bedroom from the bathroom. There was a pair of chairs at this table, along with a lamp and multiple outlets. Next to the window was an armchair.

A wardrobe served as a divider between the entry area and the bedroom. It had frosted glass doors, and inside, I found hangers, an umbrella, a safe, a laundry bag, extra bedding, an iron, and an ironing board. Another door opened to reveal the minibar, including complimentary tea and coffee supplies as well as drinks for purchase. There was a trapezoid-shaped mirror on the wall next to the wardrobe.

Bathroom

The bathroom sat between the entry and the bedroom. There was a ton of counter space around the sink, a large mirror on the wall, and a few toiletries available — including pump bottles of soap and lotion on the wall. There were extra towels, a hair dryer, and a digital scale available under the sink.

The toilet and shower sat in a separate room nearby, including a wooden door for privacy. The walk-in shower had a glass door, pump bottles of L’Occitane en Provence on the wall, and both rainfall and handheld shower options.

The shower had excellent pressure but took a while to warm up.

Service

Service at the hotel was excellent from start to finish. It began with the bellhop running to help with my luggage and continued through a friendly, helpful check-in process.

Nightly turndown service was another nice touch. Along with getting the bed ready, the staff brought coca tea to help with altitude adjustment (Bogotá sits 8,660 feet above sea level) and a cookie.

Staff members were friendly at the Basilic restaurant, and security was always present at the entrance to offer a greeting and open the door. While restaurant service was friendly, it was a bit slow.

Basilic Restaurant and Bar

Basilic was the hotel’s sole restaurant and bar, available on the ground floor. Basilic served 3 meals a day, with indoor and outdoor seating options.

I had breakfast at Basilic both mornings, and the buffet spread was large. There were fruits, pastries, granola, cold cuts, and several hot dishes, which changed daily. Additionally, staff took orders for eggs.

Coffee and juices were available, though staff struggled to make anything beyond black coffee. What was supposed to be a latte had about 1 drop of milk.

It shouldn’t look like that.

I also ate lunch at Basilic. The lunch and dinner menu was robust, offering starters, soups, salads, and multiple hot dishes. There was also a smaller, special menu with prices discounted by 20% (menu front, menu back).

I loved the batata dorada (golden potatoes) dish with a sweet potato cream sauce. The cheesecake was strange and disappointing. It was deconstructed and had a flan-like texture, not anything like a cheesecake.

Amenities

The hotel’s small size meant it didn’t offer many amenities.

Past the reception on the ground floor, there was an area that felt part living room and part library. It had ample space to work, relax, or chat with friends. The hotel’s awards were also displayed in this room.

Past the living room, the same hallway led to the business center and meeting rooms.

The lobby always had fresh fruit and cold drinks, including flavored teas, juices, and infused water.

The hotel also had a gym and massage room, both 1 floor above reception. These were small.

Environmental Initiatives

Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia is a plastic-free hotel, and its environmental initiatives were displayed at the entrance to Basilic. Other efforts include water savings, waste reduction, and sourcing produce locally.

Final Thoughts

I enjoyed my stay at the Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia. On top of a good stay, the value of booking through The Hotel Collection and receiving a $300 statement credit from American Express was excellent.

My net cost for this 2-night stay was $220, but I received $100 in on-property credit, and daily breakfast was included.

The hotel didn’t offer many amenities, but the food quality was good, the service was friendly and helpful, and the location was fantastic for both shopping and dining. I’d be happy to stay here again.
