I had a quick overnight stay at The St. Regis Bangkok in Thailand in November 2025. I spent 5 nights in Phuket, but my return flight departed from Bangkok, so I added 1 night to the trip to experience the city instead of heading straight home.

I booked this stay through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts, which came with additional benefits, including complimentary breakfast and late checkout. Even better, it was all surprisingly affordable.

Let’s dive into the details of what I liked about The St. Regis Bangkok, how to book it, and whether it’s worth it for your next stay in the city.

Booking The St. Regis Bangkok Through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts

If you’re looking for a great way to use your prepaid hotel credit from the Platinum Card® from American Express, The St. Regis Bangkok is the perfect choice. Bookings through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts come with elite-like benefits that can make even a short 1-night stay feel like a dream.

Not only that, but I was able to use my Amex Platinum card’s prepaid hotel credit of up to $300, which made this stay incredibly affordable. I paid $354.61 for 1 night at The St. Regis Bangkok using my Amex Platinum card. I earned 5 Membership Rewards points per $1 and got $300 back as a statement credit from the prepaid hotel benefit.

Since my booking was made through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts, I received these benefits:

  • Free breakfast for 2
  • $100 food and beverage credit
  • Early check-in
  • 4 p.m. late checkout (which was bumped to 5 p.m. as a courtesy)
  • An upgrade to a room with a better view

If you’re keeping track, I paid just over $50 out of pocket for a night at a luxury hotel that included breakfast, a $100 food and beverage credit, and a much-needed 5 p.m. late checkout. That’s a fantastic deal.

Hot Tip:

The prepaid hotel credit of up to $600 (up to $300 from January to June and up to $300 from July to December) has become one of my favorite benefits of the Amex Platinum card. It’s also one of the main reasons my husband and I each keep our own card — double the cards means double the credits!

You can also book The St. Regis Bangkok using Marriott Bonvoy points. Rooms start around 49,000 Marriott points per night. This hotel made our list of the best hotels in Thailand to book with points and miles.

Location of The St. Regis Bangkok

Location is a major factor when I book a hotel. When I searched hotels through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts, I noticed that many of the luxury hotels were clustered together in the Siam neighborhood. This bustling area is known for its shopping centers, including CentralwOrld and Siam Paragon. The former is the second-largest mall in Thailand, and it’s really worth visiting. You could easily spend weeks there and not see it all.

The St. Regis Bangkok is situated in a vibrant part of town, close to numerous shopping and dining options.

We used the Grab app to get a ride from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). The ride took about 1 hour and cost around $15. There was a BTS Skytrain stop near the hotel, making it convenient for those who want to use public transportation.

Hot Tip:

I hired a private guide through Viator to show us around Bangkok for the day. It was fantastic to have a local’s expertise to help us plan our activities for the day.

What I Loved About The St. Regis Bangkok

I absolutely loved my stay at The St. Regis Bangkok. Here were some of the highlights of my stay.

My Room

I was upgraded to a room with a golf course view of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club since I booked through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts. My room was classically luxurious with large floor-to-ceiling windows, wood floors, and elegant decor.

The king-sized bed was soft and comfortable. There was also a loveseat, a desk with 2 chairs, and plenty of drawer space. The bathroom featured 2 sinks, a large soaking tub, and a steam shower equipped with an oversized rain shower head and a handheld shower wand. I wish I could have stayed longer than just 1 night.

Great Breakfast

The breakfast at The St. Regis Bangkok was served at Viu from 6:30 to 11 a.m. daily. The full buffet included familiar favorites such as eggs, fruit, and pastries, as well as local specialties like mango sticky rice and a variety of international dishes.

I started with the thickest French toast I have ever seen, served with mango and passion fruit sauce. Next, I tried the avocado toast with a quail egg. Both of these dishes fell into the “some of the best I have ever had” category. Finally, I sampled some pastries and, of course, ended my meal with mango sticky rice. From start to finish, it was delectable.

Hot Tip:

If you don’t book through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts, you can get complimentary breakfast with Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite status.

Guaranteed 4 p.m. Checkout

Bookings through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts come with a guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout, and this was one of those times when this perk proved invaluable. Our flight wasn’t leaving until midnight, and we didn’t want to spend all that time at the airport, so we asked about getting an even later checkout.

St. Regis Bangkok spa
We headed to the spa after our late 5 p.m. checkout time.

Since we already had a 4 p.m. checkout, the hotel adjusted our checkout time to 5 p.m. and allowed us to use the spa facilities and showers before heading to the airport. We thought that was a great idea, so we booked massages as well. It was a fantastic way to end our trip.

Bottom Line:

I loved my stay at The St. Regis Bangkok. If you want to hear all about my trip to Thailand, including my stay at the JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa and how I booked flights, check out episode 35 of “The Upgraded Points Podcast.”

Final Thoughts

The St. Regis Bangkok hotel was elegant, comfortable, and centrally located. I absolutely loved my room and the breakfast, which was included since I booked through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts. The hotel was reasonably priced, and I was able to use my Amex Platinum card’s up to $300 prepaid hotel credit, which brought my out-of-pocket cost down to just over $50 — a great deal, any way you look at it.
