For our final night in Jakarta, Indonesia, before heading to Bali, Indonesia, my wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a more upscale stay in the city. After narrowing down my many options, I redeemed Marriott Bonvoy points for a stay at The Westin Jakarta, one of the best hotels in the city.

Although the Marriott portfolio has numerous brands, few are as enjoyable as Westin. The brand highly emphasizes wellness, comfort, and premium hospitality — things I look for in all my hotel stays. Although I have only stayed at a few Westin properties, they have all been pleasant, and I was expecting no less for this stay.

Here’s a look at my March 2026 stay at The Westin Jakarta, along with a few important things you should know before booking.

1. It Can Be an Excellent Use of Marriott Bonvoy Points

The Westin Jakarta is part of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, which means that you can redeem Marriott Bonvoy points for award nights at the property.

Since Marriott Bonvoy uses dynamic pricing, award pricing at The Westin Jakarta varies from night to night (from around 20,000 points to upward of 30,000 points). Although many in the points-and-miles world dislike it, it makes finding lower award rates that much more special. I booked a 1-night stay at the property for 20,000 points.

According to our valuations, Marriott Bonvoy points are worth 0.7 cents per point, making 20,000 points worth $140. Cash prices for the property are significantly higher (around $190), making this a solid property to book using points, especially if you can find the lowest award pricing.

2. It’s in a Prime Location in the Center of Jakarta

The Westin Jakarta occupies floors 50 through 69 of the Gama Tower on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said Road in South Jakarta.

South Jakarta is considered the trendiest part of Jakarta, home to many shopping malls, fine dining, brunch spots, lively nightlife, luxury hotels, corporate headquarters, and expat-friendly neighborhoods.

Unfortunately, Jakarta is not very walkable. Much of the city was built around cars and motorcycles, and crossing roads can be difficult because of heavy traffic. Additionally, key tourist destinations are quite far apart.

With that in mind, you likely need transportation to many of Jakarta’s tourist attractions. The property is less than a 25-minute ride from several tourist destinations, including Merdeka Square, the National Museum of Indonesia, the National Monument, Jakarta City Hall, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, the Istiqlal Mosque, and the Sudirman Central Business District.

The Westin Jakarta is about a 30-to-45-minute drive from Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (CGK). From the airport, the easiest way to reach the property is by Grab, Southeast Asia’s largest ride-sharing app. The ride should cost about Rp185,000 (about $11) — though this price will vary depending on traffic and demand.

Jakarta is also considered to have the most shopping malls of any city in the world, and many world-class malls are within a 15-minute drive of The Westin Jakarta, including Pacific Place Mall, Plaza Festival, Epiwalk, Kuningan City Mall, Lotte Mall, and Kota Kasablanka.

3. There Were Unparalleled Views All Around the Hotel

As mentioned, The Westin Jakarta occupies the upper floors of the Gama Tower, the third-tallest building in Jakarta. Thanks to its high location above the city, the property offers tremendous views in every direction.

The hotel’s lobby is on the 52nd floor and offers incredible views of the Sudirman Central Business District, home to many of Jakarta’s tallest buildings. Of course, the guest rooms also offer impressive views of Jakarta.

4. The Room Was Modern and Luxurious

Westin Hotels & Resorts is a premium brand within Marriott’s portfolio. Although they are not categorized among the highest-tier luxury properties, they consistently deliver comfort above all, complemented by an extensive selection of amenities.

As expected, The Westin Jakarta featured an extremely modern and luxurious room. Although I redeemed Marriott Bonvoy points for a standard 1 King Bed, Westin Guest Room, we were upgraded to a 1 King Bed, Club Lounge Access, Executive Guest Room, thanks to my Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite status.

The room felt refined and understated, featuring high-quality furnishings. As we entered the room, a compact lounge area was visible, furnished with a loveseat and an armchair.

To the right of the lounging area was the room’s television unit, alongside a workstation. While the room exuded luxury with its high-quality furnishings, the television console seemed somewhat out of place.

The room also featured the signature Westin Heavenly Bed, one of Westin Hotels & Resorts’ most iconic features. The king bed was exceptionally comfortable, with a padded headboard.

The room also included a massive bathroom with high-end marble finishes, complete with a deep soaking tub and walk-in shower. The bathroom was disproportionately large compared to the room’s living space.

The bathroom was quite nice as well.
Bottom Line:

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the room. It exuded elegance with high-end furnishings, though it felt somewhat cramped, particularly with the lounging area close to the bed. Still, I imagine it was a massive upgrade from the room I’d originally booked.

5. The Amenities Were High-End

The Westin Jakarta offers guests numerous luxurious amenities, including a full-service Heavenly Spa by Westin, a Westin Club Lounge, a business center, a fully equipped, 24-hour-a-day fitness center, an indoor swimming pool, vitality pools, and a sauna.

Unfortunately, the spa was closed, as our 1-night stay fell on Eid al-Fitr, a major Islamic holiday that follows Ramadan. However, I did get a chance to take a look at the spa menu, which had a long list of treatments and massages.

The indoor swimming pool was well-maintained, though it became quite busy with families, detracting from the property’s luxurious atmosphere. Instead, I spent extra time in the vitality pool, which was empty both times I visited.

6. There Were a Few Places To Eat On-Site

The Westin Jakarta offered 3 dining options in addition to the Westin Club Lounge: Seasonal Tastes, Henshin, and Daily Treats.

Seasonal Tastes is the hotel’s international, all-day dining venue. Henshin is one of Jakarta’s most popular restaurants, specializing in Nikkei cuisine, a fusion of Peruvian flavors and Japanese cooking methods. Lastly, Daily Treats is a cafe serving light bites, coffee, teas, cocktails, and wines.

As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member, my wife and I received complimentary breakfast at Seasonal Tastes. The breakfast buffet had an impressive selection of Indonesian and international dishes, including a noodle bar; a station specializing in Indian dishes such as sambar, masala, pakora, and paratha; a bakery offering desserts, doughnuts, pancakes, and French toast; and a gelato station.

The food was delicious, though the sheer variety made it difficult to fully enjoy everything — it was truly a case of too much of a good thing.

Breakfast was extremely busy because of the Eid celebrations, with hundreds of guests celebrating with family at the buffet. The restaurant spanned the entire 51st floor and had seating for more than a few hundred people, but it still felt extremely crowded.

Although the food was excellent, breakfast felt overwhelming because of the sheer number of guests.

7. Guest Services Elevated Every Celebration

The Westin Jakarta had incredibly welcoming staff members who went above and beyond to ensure we had the best stay. Many were extremely welcoming, always smiling, responded promptly to my requests, and consistently greeted my wife and me by name.

Before arriving at the hotel, I reached out to let them know my wife’s birthday was coming up and asked if a small cake could be arranged.

They went above and beyond, surprising us with 2 cakes of different flavors and a handwritten birthday card. This was an extremely thoughtful gesture and made my wife extremely happy.

The staff provided my wife with a birthday card and 2 birthday cakes.

Since our stay also fell on the holy day of Eid al-Fitr, we were surprised to receive another treat. The staff provided us with a box of different snacks, including chocolate-coated dates. Surprisingly, the box holding the snacks had a base entirely made of chocolate!

Once again, this gesture was greatly appreciated and highlighted the difference between good hospitality and truly great hospitality. It is entirely possible that the staff were in particularly high spirits and more gracious than usual, perhaps owing to the festive atmosphere of Eid.

Final Thoughts

The Westin Jakarta is a fantastic 5-star luxury hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia. The property offers plenty, including spacious guest rooms and suites, luxurious amenities such as a Westin Club Lounge, fantastic city views, and several on-site dining venues.

The location and property were terrific. I appreciated how welcoming the staff were, the incredible views from around the hotel, and the upgrade to a fantastic room.

This was one of my best Westin stays, and I would absolutely consider staying at The Westin Jakarta again, especially when redeeming Marriott Bonvoy points. However, Marriott has way too many inexpensive luxury hotels to choose from — I would likely pick a different property next time to see how they stack up against The Westin Jakarta.
