You just applied for a new credit card and were approved. You’re excited about earning that juicy welcome bonus offer and are already dreaming of how you’ll redeem those points. But you’re not sure if your math is … math-ing.

Have you completed the spending requirement for the welcome bonus offer on your new card? If not, how much more do you need to spend? And what’s the cutoff date?

Luckily, Chase makes it easy to track your progress toward a new credit card welcome bonus offer. Here’s how.

Using the Chase Mobile App To Track Your Progress

The simplest method for tracking your progress toward a Chase credit card welcome bonus offer is using Chase’s mobile app (iOS, Android).

After logging into your account, select the card for which you’re working on a welcome bonus offer. From here, scroll down until you pass the Spending planner and Chase Pay Over Time sections.

Below those, you should see a section named New account bonus with a tracker that shows several important pieces of information:

  • The spending deadline for the welcome bonus offer
  • How much you’ve spent toward the bonus
  • How much more you need to spend to qualify for the bonus
  • The full bonus amount

From this example, you can see that I’ve spent $2,188.50 of the required $4,000 for earning a bonus of 75,000 Ultimate Rewards points, and the deadline for completing the full spending requirement is listed as September 3, 2024. The tracker also says how much more spending I need to put on my card by that date.

If you click on the question mark, a pop-up window provides further details. You’ll see the account opening date and types of transactions that don’t count toward earning the welcome bonus offer, such as lottery tickets, interest, and fees.

Once you complete the spending requirements for the welcome bonus offer, the tracker will disappear. In its place, you’ll see a congratulatory message saying you earned the bonus. Additionally, the points will be listed as “pending” in the Benefits & rewards section immediately below. These points should arrive in your account after the next statement closes.

Hot Tip:

I always take screenshots when applying for credit cards. I screenshot each page during the process, showing the bonus I applied for, the spending requirement, and the time I get for completing the spending. That way, I have notes for the bonus I’m working on, helping ensure I earn it.

The Website Gets You Close, but Not All the Way

While Chase’s mobile app makes this easy, a similar feature on the website no longer exists. While it’s possible to get close to the same information, it’s not exact.

For example, at the same time Chase’s bonus tracker in the app said I had spent $2,188.50, the year-to-date spending report from the desktop website said I had spent $2,254.40. That’s a difference of $65.90 — not a huge difference, but it’s enough to matter if you don’t complete the required spending by the deadline.

If you want to use this feature, assuming it provides a fair estimate, look for the pie chart in the Account activity section. Click on this to generate a spending report. The year-to-date option will probably be most helpful as you count purchases toward your new card’s welcome bonus.

Final Thoughts

Using Chase’s mobile app to track your welcome bonus offer is simple. I wish this feature still existed on the desktop version of Chase’s website, but there’s a way to get a close estimate from the spending report.

Just remember that these numbers may not match, and you should be sure to verify the exact number with Chase if you’re unsure whether you’ve reached the spending threshold by the deadline. No one wants to come up a few dollars short of earning their credit card’s welcome bonus offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I track my Chase credit card welcome bonus offer?

The easiest way to do this is via the Chase mobile app. Click on the name of the appropriate credit card, then scroll down until you find the section called New account bonus.

How much time do I get for earning my Chase welcome bonus offer?

The spending deadline can vary from 1 credit card to another. It’s generally 3 months, but make sure you verify the deadline associated with the bonus you applied for.

Why is the Chase welcome bonus offer tracker not showing?

Unfortunately, the bonus tracker only shows in the mobile app, not on the website any longer. If it’s still not showing, you can call or send a secure message to Chase to confirm your bonus amount, spending requirement, and deadline — as well as your current spending progress toward the bonus.

Where is the Chase credit card bonus tracker?

You’ll find it in Chase’s mobile app, in the section titled New account bonus. This appears after the Spending planner and Chase Pay Over Time sections in your card account details. Click on the card you want to see, then scroll down until you find it.
