Vancouver keeps getting more flights to the U.S., with Air Canada announcing a spate of new routes from the Pacific coast city to 3 growing American cities — as well as more frequencies on existing routes. The news comes a few days after WestJet, Canada’s second-largest carrier, announced more flights to the U.S. from Vancouver as well.

Let’s look at where the new flights from Vancouver to the U.S. are going and how much you can expect them to cost.

All We Know About the New Air Canada Flights

Air Canada said in a statement that it will start 3 new transborder routes from Vancouver (YVR) to Tampa (TPA)Raleigh-Durham (RDU), and Nashville (BNA) next summer. In addition, it will add more capacity to Austin (AUS), Denver (DEN), and Miami (MIA).

The Nashville flights start on May 1, Tampa on June 3, and Raleigh on June 4, 2025. The first 2 routes are seasonal flights, while Raleigh will be operated year-round. All these new Air Canada services are flown with the Boeing 737 MAX 8, featuring 16 seats in business class and 153 in coach.

An interesting aspect of this expansion is that transborder flights are timed for what Air Canada calls “easy connections with the airline’s international network.” From Vancouver, this includes — among others — Beijing (PEK), Hong Kong (HKG), Seoul (ICN), Shanghai (PVG), Singapore (SIN), and Tokyo (NRT), all of which will be easily reachable with 1 connection from Nashville, Raleigh, and Tampa.

Here’s a table with all we know about the new flights from Vancouver to the U.S.:

A check on the Air Canada site for airfare in June in coach class from Vancouver, with an Economy Standard fare, found the following prices in U.S. dollars:

  • Nashville, Thursday to Monday: $364 round-trip
  • Tampa, Tuesday to Sunday: $316 round-trip
  • Raleigh-Durham, Monday to Thursday: $379 round-trip

Austin (AUS) will also receive 5 weekly flights next summer, an increase of 2 weekly frequencies compared to 2024. Miami will receive 4 weekly flights, an increase of 1 flight per week, and Denver will move to 2 daily flights.

Air Canada’s Getting a Lot More Planes Soon

We may hear more from Air Canada about new destinations and frequencies beyond this announcement.

“More network news will be coming soon,” said Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s executive vice president of revenue and network planning. That would be in addition to the new routes to the U.S. and Europe that Air Canada announced last month.

While we don’t yet know what Galardo might have been teasing, we know from Air Canada’s most recent quarterly report that the airline plans to grow its fleet by 21 airplanes in 2025. That means it will have a lot of new jets it can send to new destinations or use for more flights to existing ones.

Air Canada said that together with United Airlines, its partner in the Star Alliance, it will offer up to 11% more seats per day to 21 U.S. destinations next summer compared to this year.

Hot Tip:

Air Canada’s loyalty program, Aeroplan, can offer a lot of value to U.S.-based flyers. To see if it might be a valuable tool for you, check out our full review of the Air Canada Aeroplan loyalty program.

Final Thoughts

Air Canada has some good news for U.S.-based flyers who will have more options next year to fly to Vancouver and beyond.

The airline is also getting a lot of new airplanes next year, which means it’s likely to announce new routes soon. It’s a safe bet that many of them will be of interest to people flying to and from the United States.
