Air Canada is making a major push to upgrade its long-haul experience, and this is no light refresh. The airline just revealed brand-new cabin interiors, including a next-generation business class product, that will begin rolling out later this year.

Notably, the carrier plans to introduce lie-flat business class on a single-aisle aircraft, something that’s still pretty rare in North America.

Let’s take a look at the new cabin products and when and where they’ll debut.

A Closer Look at Air Canada’s New Business Cabins

Airbus A321XLR: Lie-Flat Business Class Comes to a Narrow-Body

Air Canada’s first rollout of the new cabin design will arrive on the Airbus A321XLR, expected to enter service as early as summer 2026. This aircraft will be key to the airline’s expansion strategy, particularly on transatlantic routes with comparatively less demand and premium transcontinental flights within North America.

The plane will feature 14 lie-flat Air Canada Signature Class seats, marking the first time the airline is offering a true long-haul-style business class product on a single-aisle jet.

Notably, Air Canada plans to deploy the A321XLR on routes that don’t consistently support wide-body aircraft, meaning travelers could see lie-flat seats on routes that previously only had recliner-style business class.

Beyond the seats, the onboard experience is getting a tech upgrade, with 4K OLED screens measuring 19 inches in premium cabins and 13 inches in economy, along with Bluetooth audio connectivity.

Boeing 787-10s Get All-New Signature Plus Suites

The Boeing 787-10 will follow with the debut of Air Canada’s new Signature Plus Suites, entering service at a later date that has not yet been finalized, but is expected shortly after the A321XLR rollout.

These aircraft will primarily be used on the airline’s highest-demand long-haul routes, including key transatlantic and international markets.

Designed to be a step above the carrier’s current business class, these suites offer more personal space, increased privacy, and upgraded finishes throughout the cabin. Each suite will feature a bed stretching up to 6 feet 5 inches, along with additional storage, a larger table, and higher walls for a more enclosed feel.

Select center suites will also include a sliding privacy divider that can be fully retracted, allowing groups or couples to create a more social setup during the flight.

The entertainment experience is also getting a boost, with screens up to 27 inches in premium cabins, alongside Bluetooth connectivity and updated interfaces.

While specific routes haven’t been announced yet, these suites are clearly aimed at competing on Air Canada’s most premium long-haul routes, where the airline is looking to elevate its position against global competitors.

Cabin Upgrades Extend Across the Fleet

While the new business class products will get most of the attention, Air Canada is also making meaningful upgrades across the rest of the cabin — and across more of its fleet.

Passengers in all cabins can expect a more modern onboard experience, including larger 4K OLED screens at every seat, Bluetooth connectivity for wireless headphones, and both USB-C and AC power outlets to keep devices charged gate to gate.

Seats are also being redesigned with improved ergonomics and more personal space, while premium economy will boast added privacy features, such as extended seat wings.

These updates won’t be limited to brand-new aircraft. Air Canada is also working to bring a more consistent experience across its existing fleet by retrofitting older Airbus A320-family aircraft with the new interiors. At the same time, Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will shift toward leisure-focused operations, and regional aircraft operated by Air Canada Express are already being refreshed with updated cabins and fast, free Wi-Fi.

The airline’s broader goal is to reduce variability across the fleet, so passengers know what to expect regardless of which aircraft they fly.

Hot Tip:

If you’re redeeming Aeroplan points for Air Canada flights, keep an eye on new Airbus A321XLR routes — especially transcontinental flights and thinner transatlantic routes from secondary Canadian hubs. You could find lie-flat business class where only recliner seats were previously offered, potentially at similar award pricing.

Final Thoughts

Air Canada’s latest cabin updates feel like more than just a refresh, with real changes to both its premium products and the overall onboard experience. One of the biggest shifts is the addition of lie-flat seats on a narrow-body aircraft.

The introduction of Signature Plus Suites on the Boeing 787-10 also shows where the airline is heading at the top end, with a more private and spacious product aimed at competing with the world’s top long-haul carriers.

For travelers, especially those booking with points, the rollout will be worth watching — both for where these aircraft are deployed and how award availability lines up with the new products.
