Temperatures across the United States are reaching record highs this week, but one airline is already thinking about the winter travel season.

Alaska Airlines is back with some big news. The airline will start 18 new nonstop routes to sunny and snowy retreats — and tickets will be available later today. Let’s take a look at the new routes.

New Alaska Airlines Routes

Alaska Airlines announced on July 10 that it would begin 18 new routes this winter, covering domestic and international destinations.

New routes will begin to several U.S. destinations, such as Boise (BOI) and Bozeman (BZN).

The airline will also introduce some brand-new routes, such as service from San Diego (SAN) and Seattle (SEA) to Vail (EGE). And Alaska is showing some love to several international locations, too, like Kelowna (YLW) in British Columbia and Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR).

The new routes will begin in early December and roll out consistently through late January 2025. The complete list of routes and their frequencies can be found at this link.

“We’re thrilled to offer convenient connection for guests across our network with this expansion — whether checking destinations off their bucket lists or setting off to their favorite winter getaways, we’ve put together an exciting range of options from tropical destinations across Mexico to the most popular ski slopes in North America.”

Kirsten Amrine, vice president of network planning and revenue management at Alaska Airlines

Booking Alaska Airlines Flights

These new flights will be available on the evening of July 10, and you can book using cash or Alaska Mileage Plan miles. We’re not seeing any special promotions on these routes, which Alaska Airlines usually offers when it launches new routes.

Alaska Mileage Plan miles aren’t easy to earn, but they are incredibly valuable. According to Upgraded Points’ valuations (which we publish monthly), they are currently the highest-valued airline miles of U.S.-based programs.

Final Thoughts

This is excellent news from Alaska, which is adding nearly 20 new routes across the U.S. and North America. These routes cover destinations that will appeal to snowbirds and sun-chasers alike. Make sure to check out the new routes when they go live later today!
