Alaska Airlines is reshaping its growing network of airline partnerships as it continues to expand its Atmos Rewards loyalty program.

The Oneworld carrier just announced changes to its partner classifications, including new designations and a welcome addition.

Here’s everything you need to know about Alaska’s next step.

Alaska Reclassifies Partner Airlines, Adds Breeze Airways

Alaska Airlines has been in the news a lot lately. The airline recently announced the next steps in its new Alaska Accelerate initiative, which aims to elevate its Atmos Rewards loyalty program. This includes new ways to earn elite status, a new Alaska Airlines debit card, and new earn rates for partner flights.

Now, Alaska has revealed its updated partner structure, as first noted by Loyalty Lobby. The new list of airlines now includes Air Rarotonga and Air Tahiti among its regional partners, both of which are currently marked as “coming soon” on Alaska’s partner page.

Air Rarotonga operates numerous domestic flights from Rarotonga (RAR) to destinations in the Cook Islands. Meanwhile, Air Tahiti operates mostly services within French Polynesia. Both airlines offer 2 weekly flights between Rarotonga and Papeete (PPT).

Alaska Airlines has removed ITA Airways and Singapore Airlines as notable partners from its Atmos Rewards list but has added Breeze Airways. The current partner information confirms that travelers who book eligible Breeze flights directly through Alaska or Hawaiian Airlines can earn Atmos Rewards points.

However, Breeze is not listed among Alaska’s Oneworld, global, or regional airline partner categories. This suggests that this partnership is being handled differently from Alaska’s traditional partnerships.

Hot Tip:

Some flights booked outside Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines earn Atmos Rewards, while others don’t. Travelers should pay close attention to booking channels and fare classes to ensure their flight qualifies to earn points.

What This Means for Travelers

These changes come as Alaska Airlines is focusing on giving its Atmos Rewards members more ways to earn rewards across domestic and international travel.

These changes can make the Atmos Rewards program even more beneficial for trips involving smaller regional airlines. Air Rarotonga and Air Tahiti can provide important connections for travelers exploring the South Pacific, where smaller carriers often serve as the final links to more remote island getaways.

For U.S. travelers, Breeze’s addition is potentially much more important. The low-cost carrier operates a solid network of point-to-point routes and gives Alaska flyers another option for earning rewards when booking eligible flights through Alaska or Hawaiian.

Final Thoughts

Alaska Airlines has announced changes to its partner list, which reflects the airline’s broader effort to make the Atmos Rewards program even more flexible while expanding its international and regional reach.

While the reclassification of Air Rarotonga and Air Tahiti and the addition of Breeze Airways may appear relatively small, they give members more opportunities to earn rewards across a wider range of travel.
