American Airlines has introduced a new promotion designed to help you get a head start on earning elite status for next year, allowing you to earn up to 5,000 bonus Loyalty Points.

Additionally, the Fort Worth-based carrier is offering a promotion where AA flyers can earn a Flagship Lounge pass.

Let’s take a look at these offers in detail and see if they’re worth considering.

Get up to 5,000 Bonus Loyalty Points for Travel in March

Since American Airlines replaced Elite Qualifying Miles (EQMs), Elite Qualifying Segments (EQS), and Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs) with Loyalty Points, AA flyers have been finding ways to earn AAdvantage status by accruing more Loyalty Points.

Examples of this include online shopping, using an American Airlines co-branded credit card, and traveling with American Airlines and its partners.

American has a promotional offer for travelers to earn up to 5,000 bonus Loyalty Points for travel in March. Flyers can earn 500 Loyalty Points for each segment flown, up to a maximum of 5,000 Loyalty Points. If you want to take advantage of this offer, you would need to take 10 flights in March to earn the full 5,000 Loyalty Points.

The terms of this offer require you to first register, book your flight, and fly by March 31, 2025. This offer is not valid for basic economy tickets or flights that have already been booked.

Just click on the “Promotions” page in your American Airlines account. If you’re targeted, you’ll see this offer.

Hot Tip:

There are many ways to earn AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points toward elite status. Aside from flying, here are some of the best ways to earn Loyalty Points with American Airlines.

Free Flagship Lounge Single Visit Pass With Premium Cabin Flight

An additional promotion offers a 1-time Flagship Lounge pass when booking and flying a first-class, premium economy, or business-class flight in March.

Similar to the Loyalty Points promotional offer, registration is required, and you must book your flight (and travel) by March 31. Likewise, this promotion does not apply to already-booked flights.

Eligible flights must be booked in first, business, or premium economy with American Airlines to qualify for this promotion.

Final Thoughts

If you have upcoming travel with American Airlines in March and haven’t booked yet, it might be worth considering these new promotions. That being said, you shouldn’t go out of your way to book flights just becauase of these offers, but you should register in case you do.

Keep in mind that the AAdvantage status year ends on February 28, 2025, meaning any trips you take in March will contribute to your 2026 elite status progress.
