American Airlines has announced a massive Caribbean expansion, launching 8 new routes and boosting service on existing ones.

There’s a ton of news to cover — here’s what you need to know!

American Will Fly 2,300+ Flights to Latin America and the Caribbean This Winter

The biggest takeaway is that American Airlines is adding and increasing flights from many of its hubs, including Charlotte (CLT), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK), and Philadelphia (PHL), to destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America.

This is a massive expansion of American’s short-haul, international offerings. And the airline will offer destinations such as La Romana, Dominican Republic (LRM), which will make it the only U.S. carrier to serve the destination with nonstop service.

All told, American says it will offer more than 2,350 weekly flights to the region — here’s a look at the new routes coming this winter:

Tickets will be available on aa.com beginning May 20, 2024, with cash or American AAdvantage miles.

“Customers will have more reasons to choose American than ever before for nonstop fun in the sun this year,” said Brian Znotins, American’s senior vice president of network and schedule planning. “We are excited to continue growing our network to the region with more flights this winter to the Caribbean and Latin America than any other U.S. carrier ever.”

Bottom Line:

Using American AAdvantage miles is one of the best ways to fly to the Caribbean, thanks to its generous award chart. You can fly to much of the Caribbean starting from 25,000 miles each way — which is a steal!

Final Thoughts

American is making it easier than ever to get to the Caribbean and Latin America by adding several exciting new routes and increasing service on routes it currently serves.
