The Business Centurion® Card from American Express offers numerous benefits to cardholders to justify its hefty annual fee and pricey initiation fee. Among the key perks is a 50% points rebate when using points to buy flights from AmexTravel.com.

However, that benefit will see a new limit starting in early 2025. Here’s what you should know about this change to a key perk of the Amex Business Centurion card.

Amex Business Centurion Card Gets Cap on Points Rebate

The Amex Business Centurion card comes with numerous travel perks, including elite status with airlines and hotels, rental car perks, priority access through airports, and a points rebate. That last item is the one to concentrate on, as it will receive a new limit next year.

Amex Business Centurion cardholders enjoy a 50% points rebate when using points to book flights through AmexTravel.com. This benefit applies when booking flights in first or business class with any airline or in economy class on an airline of your choice, chosen in advance each year.

This benefit is a supercharged version of the 35% points rebate on The Business Platinum Card® from American Express. That benefit comes with the same requirements — booking flights in premium cabins with any airline, economy with your preferred airline, and using Pay with Points via AmexTravel.com — and is subject to a limit of receiving 1 million points back annually. That makes using your Amex Membership Rewards points here worth roughly 1.54 cents apiece.

Starting on February 1, 2025, Amex Business Centurion cardholders will also be subject to an annual limit on how many points they can get back from the Pay with Points rebate on flights. Given that this is an ultra-premium card, the limit will be higher: 3 million points back annually. Previously, there was no limit to how many points you could get back each year with this benefit.

You’ll see information about this upcoming limit to the points rebate if you navigate to your cardmember benefits section and click on this perk.

This change only affects using Paying with Points through AmexTravel.com and doesn’t limit how many points you can redeem with American Express’ points transfer partners each year.

Bottom Line:

The Amex Business Centurion card will impose a cap of getting 3 million points back annually with the Pay with Points rebate for qualifying flight bookings through AmexTravel.com. This goes into effect on February 1, 2025.

Final Thoughts

Those who book travel through AmexTravel.com using points from their Amex Business Centurion card will continue to receive a 50% points rebate on qualifying flights. However, the number of points you can get back each year from this benefit will be limited. Beginning February 1, 2025, the annual cap will be set at 3 million points back.
