Small Luxury Hotels of the World is a collection of small, independent, high-end properties across the world. A new Amex Offer allows guests to save money on these fantastic hotels.

Now through December 31, 2024, you’ll get a $100 statement credit when you spend at least $300 at Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) locations in the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. This is essentially the same offer we saw at this time last year.

Here are the details about this new Amex Offer.

Amex Offer: Spend $300, Get $100 Back at SLH

Targeted cardmembers can get a $100 statement credit after using their enrolled card to spend at least $300 on room rates and room charges in 1 or more transactions at participating Small Luxury Hotels of the World locations.

Is It Worth It?

Getting $100 back on a $300 purchase is a great deal. If you can spend exactly $300, that’s a 33.33% rebate.

However, there are a few things you may want to keep in mind.

First, Small Luxury Hotels of the World has a partnership with Hilton, and if you take advantage of this offer, you won’t be eligible for any Hilton Honors benefits or points. That means you won’t earn Hilton elite night credits, nor will you be eligible for special Hilton-SLH benefits like free breakfast for 2 when you book through this offer.

If you’re chasing elite status or interested in earning or redeeming Hilton points, this offer may not be the best for you.

Second, some Small Luxury Hotels of the World participate in the Virtuoso program, which offers extra benefits like room upgrades and free breakfast. Since you aren’t booking directly through SLH when using Virtuoso, per the offer’s requirements, you wouldn’t be eligible for the Amex Offer. However, since the offer is linked to your credit card, there’s a chance you could get both the Virtuoso benefits and the Amex Offer, but it’s not guaranteed.

It’s also worth pointing out that more than 80 hotels participate in both Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Mr & Mrs Smith, which has a partnership with Hyatt. You may be able to book the same hotel in a few ways, so compare prices in both cash and points.

One last thing to consider is that some SLH properties are also part of Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts. If you book directly using this Amex Offer, you won’t be eligible for those benefits, including late checkout and free breakfast. Plus, when you have The Platinum Card® from American Express, you’ll get an annual up to $200 statement credit for a prepaid stay at Fine Hotels + Resorts locations booked through AmexTravel.com.

Final Thoughts

We love being able to get discounts on travel, so this new Amex Offer for Small Luxury Hotels of the World is great news. However, before booking a hotel using this offer, double-check to ensure you’re not missing out on more valuable benefits by booking through other channels like Hilton, Hyatt, Virtuoso, or Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts.
