Airbnb is coming to AmexTravel.com, bringing new booking options and perks for those with the Platinum Card^® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card^® from American Express.

Starting today, October 22, 2026, travelers can book more than 1 million Airbnb listings worldwide directly through AmexTravel.com. Amex Platinum cardholders can also use their existing $600 annual lodging credit towards eligible Airbnb Luxe stays and unlock a new $250 statement credit for Airbnb Experiences.

However, there is a negative element to this changes. Here’s what you need to know.

You Can Now Book Airbnb Stays Through AmexTravel.com

Beginning October 22, eligible American Express cardholders can book more than 1 million Airbnb listings worldwide through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel app.

The partnership gives travelers access to a much wider selection of accommodations besides traditional hotels, including vacation rentals that may be better suited for families, groups, or anyone looking for a bit more space.

The booking process is a little different from a traditional AmexTravel.com reservation. You’ll start your search through AmexTravel.com, connect your Amex and Airbnb accounts, and complete your booking through Airbnb. Any changes, cancellations, or communications with your host will also be handled through Airbnb.

There’s also an opportunity to earn Membership Rewards points on eligible prepaid Airbnb bookings. Amex Platinum card and Amex Business Platinum cardholders will earn 5x points, eligible American Express^® Classic Green cardholders (no longer open to new applicants) earn 3x, and other eligible cardholders earn 2x.

That’s a nice bonus for travelers who book stays through AmexTravel.com. However, not every Airbnb property will count towards the Amex Platinum card’s up-to-$600 annual lodging credit.

Amex Platinum Adds Airbnb Luxe to $600 Credit, Plus New $250 Benefit

Here’s where things get a bit more interesting for those with the Amex Platinum card or the Amex Business Platinum card.

As part of the new collaboration, Amex is renaming its up-to-$600 annual Hotel Credit to the Lodging Credit to reflect the addition of eligible Airbnb Luxe stays of at least 2 nights booked through AmexTravel.com. The credit remains split into 2 semiannual credits: one of up to $300 from January to June and an additional credit of up to $300 between July and December.

The negative part? As of January 1, 2027, stays at Fine Hotels + Resorts will require a minimum stay of 2 nights to use the $300 semiannual credit.

Personally, I love having another way to use this credit, especially when a vacation rental makes more sense than a traditional hotel. That said, Airbnb’s Luxe listings are among the platform’s priciest, so the $600 credit might not make a huge dent in your overall stay cost.

There’s another perk, too. After booking a qualifying Airbnb Luxe stay, eligible cardholders can enjoy a new $250 statement credit toward eligible Airbnb Experiences. Once the Luxe booking is confirmed, cardholders can use their eligible Amex Platinum card to purchase Airbnb Experiences directly through Airbnb and receive up to $250 as a statement credit through the end of that calendar year.

Hot Tip:

Not every Airbnb stay qualifies for the up-to-$600 Lodging Credit. You’ll need to book an eligible prepaid Airbnb Luxe property for at least 2 nights, starting through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel app. The credit is capped at $300 semiannually.

Final Thoughts

This is a welcome addition for Amex cardholders, especially those who prefer vacation rentals over traditional hotels. Having more than 1 million Airbnb listings available through Amex Travel gives travelers more flexibility, and earning up to 5x points on eligible bookings is another nice perk.

For Amex Platinum cardholders, the ability to use the existing $600 Lodging Credit toward Airbnb Luxe stays and unlock an additional $250 in statement credits for Airbnb Experiences makes the partnership even more appealing.

The catch is that you’ll need to book an eligible Airbnb Luxe property to take advantage of those credits. Still, if you’re already planning a luxury vacation rental, it’s nice to have another way to put your Amex Platinum card benefits to work.
