Elevated Welcome Offer on Amtrak Guest Rewards Preferred Card

The Amtrak Guest Rewards® Preferred Mastercard® was relaunched back in October 2022 through First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO).

Now, Amtrak is providing a limited-time welcome offer for the card: a whopping 40,000 Amtrak Guest Rewards bonus points after making at least $2,000 in purchases within the first 3 billing cycles of your account opening. This welcome offer ends on July 30, 2025.

This is one of the highest offers we’ve seen since the card’s refresh and is double the standard introductory offer of 20,000 points on this card.

Typically, Amtrak Guest Rewards points range in value from about 0.8 to 3 cents per point, which makes this bonus worth around $320 to $1,200.

Amtrak points can come in handy, especially if you’re traveling along the East Coast. Prices on the Acela Express can be as much as $300 one-way, particularly for last-minute travel.

So, if you’re a frequent Amtrak rider, you may want to consider the Amtrak Guest Rewards Preferred card, which charges a $99 annual fee. You’ll get enjoy the following benefits:

  • 3x points per $1 spent on Amtrak travel, including onboard purchases
  • 2x points per $1 spent on dining and travel, including transit and rideshare
  • 1x point per $1 spent on all other qualifying purchases
  • Round-trip companion coupon each card anniversary
  • 1-class upgrade each card anniversary
  • Station lounge pass each card anniversary
  • 20% rebate on Amtrak onboard food and beverage purchases in the form of a statement credit
  • 5% point rebate when you redeem points for Amtrak reward travel
  • Earn tier status faster with 1,000 TQPs (Tier Qualifying Points) toward status each time you make $5,000 in qualifying purchases
  • Points don’t expire as long as your account remains open
  • No limit on how many points you can earn as long as your account remains open
  • No foreign transaction fees
Hot Tip:

Amtrak has another credit card, the Amtrak Guest Rewards® Mastercard®, which has a $0 annual fee. This card offers 2x points spent on Amtrak travel (including onboard purchases) and dining, and 1x points for all other purchases. It has a welcome offer of 12,000 bonus points right now, available through July 30, 2025. To qualify, spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 billing cycles from account opening.

Final Thoughts

This is excellent news for casual riders and Amtrak Guest Rewards loyalists alike, especially considering how difficult it is to earn Amtrak points since the program doesn’t partner with a major credit card issuer.

If you want to earn Amtrak points and receive perks such as lounge access, make sure to take advantage of this offer on the Amtrak Guest Rewards Preferred card before it expires on July 30.
