Avelo Airlines, the low-cost carrier based in Burbank, California (BUR), has announced a brand-new route between Sonoma County Airport (STS) in the North Bay Area and Palm Springs (PSP).
Here’s what you need to know.
New Service Launches November 11, 2022
The new route will operate 2 times weekly on Mondays and Fridays. The inaugural flight will happen on November 11, 2022, with a one-off schedule as follows:
Flights will be operated by the Boeing 737-800, which has a capacity of nearly 200 passengers.
“Flights connecting Palm Springs and Sonoma County will provide our residents with convenient access to a popular resort destination, and visitors from Southern California will be able to experience all that Sonoma County’s wine country has to offer,” James Gore, Chair of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, said in a statement.
Avelo has rapidly expanded since launching in the spring of 2021. In March, the airline announced it would begin nonstop service between its base in New Haven (HVN) and Baltimore (BWI), Chicago-Midway (MDW), and Raleigh-Durham (RDU).
And earlier this summer, it began flying routes from Baltimore to Orlando (MCO) and Wilmington International Airport (ILM) in North Carolina.
The airline serves 30 destinations across the United States from Burbank, New Haven, and Orlando hubs.
Flights Start at $29
Introductory fares between Palm Springs and Sonoma County start at just $29 each way.
Tickets must be purchased by August 11, 2022, and travel must be completed by February 14, 2023. Remember that because Avelo is a low-cost airline, you’ll have to pay extra for services such as seat selection, carry-on luggage, and checked bags.
Finally, note that a $20 charge applies to all bookings or changes made through Avelo’s Customer Support Center, though you won’t be charged if you book your tickets online.
Hot Tip: Make sure to read Avelo’s optional services page before booking your ticket to avoid paying for extra services!
Final Thoughts
Avelo has grown rapidly since its launch — it seems like the airline launches a new route every few months.
Both Palm Springs and Sonoma County are popular destinations destinations, so if you’re interested in visiting either, make sure to grab a $29 ticket while they’re still available!
