Avelo Announces New Flights From Salem to Burbank and Las Vegas

Avelo Airlines has announced new flights out of Salem Municipal Airport (SLE), outside of Portland, Oregon, to Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) outside of Los Angeles, and Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas. These will be the first new routes out of Salem, Oregon, in 15 years, and Avelo is hoping to capitalize on the airport’s low cost and location to woo customers.

Flight Schedules

Both routes will operate on a twice-weekly schedule, so you won’t find these flights every day of the week. The timings are strategic to capture customers going to and from on select days.

The flights between Salem and Las Vegas start on October 5, 2023, and this flight will operate on Thursdays and Sundays.

The flights between Salem and Burbank begin October 6, 2023, and will operate on Fridays and Mondays. Beginning on November 2, 2023, the flights to Burbank will then move to a Thursday and Monday schedule.

Avelo will operate both routes on a Boeing 737 plane, with an all-economy class configuration.

Salem, Oregon

Many people have not heard of Salem. You’ll find Salem’s airport approximately a 50-minute drive from downtown Portland, so it’s definitely not as well-located as Portland International Airport (PDX), but you may find the drive worth it as flights will begin at $39.

Salem also serves the region south of Portland and might be convenient to individuals who don’t want to make the drive up to Portland, though with flights only operating on 2 days of the week and to 2 destinations, the traffic will obviously be quite limited.
