Frequent travelers to Latin America, listen up.

Avianca has just increased the welcome bonus on its premium co-branded American Express credit card with a huge potential 100,000 Avianca LifeMiles to be earned.

Let’s delve into the offer.

Enjoy up to 100,000 LifeMiles With Increased Welcome Offer

It was only in May 2024 that Avianca launched the first-of-its-kind dedicated LifeMiles-earning credit cards in the U.S.

For those who aren’t overly familiar, Avianca is the national flag carrier of Colombia and the second-largest airline in South America after LATAM.

Thanks to Avianca’s membership in the Star Alliance airline alliance, its loyalty program, LifeMiles, is often a favorite of frequent flyers in the U.S. and beyond.

Currently, the Avianca LifeMiles American Express Elite Card is offering an elevated welcome bonus, allowing new cardholders to earn 20,000 miles after their first purchase, along with an additional 80,000 miles after spending $10,000 within the first 6 months of account opening.

This new offer, which includes a potential welcome bonus of up to 100,000 bonus miles, will only be available for a limited time, ending on June 6, 2025.

The Avianca LifeMiles Elite card is the higher-end option of the 2 Amex-issued Avianca co-branded cards and comes with a $249 annual fee. It also boasts a host of benefits, such as Avianca LifeMiles Silver elite status, 10% miles back on Star Alliance airline redemptions, and it earns 3x on all Avianca Airlines and LifeMiles purchases, 2x on travel and restaurants, and 1x on everything else.

The cheaper mid-tier Avianca LifeMiles American Express Credit Card, which has a $99 annual fee, doesn’t have a new elevated welcome offer like its premium version, but you can still earn a welcome bonus of 40,000 miles.

What Are the Best Ways To Spend Avianca’s Credit Card Welcome Offers?

There’s no doubt that 100,000 certainly sounds like lots of points, but what kind of redemption could that get you?

Well, there are actually a ton of ways to redeem Avianca LifeMiles.

One of the most popular uses of LifeMiles is flying Lufthansa first class between the U.S. and Europe.

A one-way ticket in this exclusive and world-renowned cabin will set you back just 87,000 miles.

Another great option would be to fly transcontinentally with United in business class. With one-way redemptions starting at just 25,000 miles, the welcome bonus of the midtier card would be enough for a round-trip in a Polaris lie-flat bed!

Final Thoughts

Increased welcome offers always catch our attention here at Upgraded Points. While the Avianca LifeMiles Elite card features a new elevated welcome offer for a limited time, it’s important to assess whether this card makes sense for your wallet and travel plans.

If it does, be sure to apply by June 6 so you get the chance to earn up to 100,000 Avianca LifeMiles!
