Frequent travelers to Latin America, listen up.

Avianca has just increased the welcome bonus on both its cobranded American Express credit cards with a huge potential 120,000 Avianca LifeMiles to be earned.

Let’s delve into the offer.

Enjoy up to 120,000 LifeMiles With Increased Welcome Offers

It was only in May 2024 that Avianca launched the first-of-its-kind dedicated LifeMiles-earning credit cards in the U.S.

For those who aren’t overly familiar, Avianca is the national flag carrier of Colombia and the second-largest airline in South America after LATAM.

Thanks to Avianca’s membership in the Star Alliance airline alliance, its loyalty program, LifeMiles, is often a favorite of frequent flyers in the U.S. and beyond.

The increased welcome offers on both cards are for a limited time only and will end on January 21, 2025.

The cheaper midtier Avianca LifeMiles American Express Credit Card, with its $99 annual fee, now comes with a welcome offer of 50,000 bonus LifeMiles — that’s an increase of 10,000 from the original 40,000 welcome offer. To unlock the bonus, you’ll need to spend $3,000 on the card in the first 90 days.

The Avianca LifeMiles American Express Elite Card, the higher-end option with a $249 annual fee, now comes with a 20% higher welcome offer of up to 120,000 bonus miles: 80,000 miles upon spending $4,500 in the first 90 days and 40,000 miles upon spending $25,000 in the first 365 days.

Hot Tip:

What Are the Best Ways To Spend Avianca’s Credit Card Welcome Offers?

There’s no doubt that 120,000 certainly sounds like a lot of points, but what kind of redemption could that get you?

Well, there are actually a ton of ways to spend Avianca LifeMiles.

One of the most popular uses of LifeMiles is flying Lufthansa first class between the U.S. and Europe.

A one-way ticket in this exclusive and world-renowned cabin will set you back just 87,000 miles.

Another great option would be to fly transcontinentally with United in business class. With one-way redemptions starting at just 25,000 miles, the welcome bonus of the midtier card would be enough for a round-trip in a Polaris lie-flat bed!

Final Thoughts

Increased welcome offers always catch our attention here at Upgraded Points.

However, no matter how tempting an increased bonus of 20% more points might seem, it’s always worth spending some time figuring out if taking out the card makes sense for both your wallet and travel plans.
