Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Qantas first class is one of the world’s most sought-after seats. Aside from being one of the rarer (and harder to book) products around, it’s also renowned for its fantastic lounges, impeccable service, and impressive food and beverage offerings.

Now, you have an opportunity to try it for yourself, as we’re seeing first-class availability on a few routes between the U.S. and Australia from now through June.

These seats certainly won’t last long, so let’s get right to it.

Book Qantas First Class to Australia With Points

Australia is a bucket-list destination for many, so why not fly there in the ultimate bucket-list seat? Right now, we’re seeing Qantas first class seats available from Dallas, Los Angeles, and San Francisco to Sydney, bookable through American Airlines AAdvantage or Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards.

  • Class: First
  • Routes: Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Los Angeles (LAX) to Sydney (SYD)
  • Airline: Qantas
  • Cost: From 110,000 points plus approximately $34 in taxes and fees
  • Dates: June 2026

To search for these flights, we recommend using a tool like Seats.aero, which can search broad dates and numerous routes at once. That will significantly cut down on the amount of time spent hunting for these gems.

Depending on the specific flight, economy seats are available from 40,000 AAdvantage miles, premium economy for 55,000 miles, and business class for 80,000 miles. These cabin classes are also bookable through Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards, though rates will be slightly higher.

Best Ways To Book

Redeeming American Airlines AAdvantage miles is your most affordable option. If you don’t have AAdvantage miles, you can also redeem Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards points at decent rates.

Using the AAdvantage program, first class costs 110,000 to 119,500 miles, plus about $34 in taxes and fees, depending on the date you book.

Some of the same flights are available through Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards, though the seat will cost you 130,000 points and about $48 in taxes and fees.

There are plenty of ways to earn American AAdvantage miles to redeem for flights on its Oneworld alliance partners, including Qantas.

American Airlines has co-branded credit cards available through Citi, and you can transfer Citi ThankYou Points to AA at a 1:1 ratio if you have an eligible Citi credit card. Additionally, you can earn Marriott Bonvoy points and transfer those to American Airlines at a rate of 3:1.

Alternatively, you have options for acquiring Alaska points. You can transfer from Bilt Rewards at a 1:1 ratio. There are also a few Alaska Airlines co-branded credit cards available with respectable welcome bonus offers that would allow you to earn a sizable amount of points in a relatively short window.

Transfers are also available from Marriott Bonvoy, though these are done at a 3:1 ratio and often take 2 days to complete.

Final Thoughts

Qantas first class on points is what we call a “unicorn” redemption. It’s hard to find availability, and the product isn’t widely available. However, there’s an opportunity right now to book yourself an incredible product on a very long flight at pretty reasonable rates.

Don’t hesitate, because these seats won’t be available for long!
