The future’s “bright” for train travel in Florida.
The state’s alternative intercity rail service to Amtrak, Brightline, has expanded northwards through the state with the opening of 2 new stations in Aventura and Boca Raton.
“Brightline is on a mission to build a better way to get there. We’re connecting the state and economies making it easier to do business while expanding your backyard in so many ways,” said Patrick Goddard, Brightline President.
The stations were officially opened ready to welcome their first Brightline service on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
Here’s what you need to know about Florida’s Brightline extension.
New Brightline Stations Open in Aventura and Boca Raton
The opening of these new stations brings the total number of stations on the line to 5. Aventura and Boca Raton stations have been built in between existing stations on the line.
From now, after starting its journey in Miami, Brightline will then call at Aventura (once it fully opens pending some final construction), Fort Lauderdale, and Boca Raton, finishing in West Palm Beach; a full schedule is available online.
From Sunday brunches out with the gang in West Palm Beach to a spot of golf at Boca Raton or a spending spree at the Aventura Mall, Brightline can take you there.
Just like the incumbent stations, each of the new additions features the signature Brightline MRKT, SMART, and PREMIUM lounges to start your trip in style.
“Opening our stations in Aventura and Boca Raton is a community-wide effort that will alleviate congestion and regionalize South Florida,” said Goddard.
The next developments down the track for Brightline will be new stations at Orlando International Airport (MCO), as well as a lengthy extension to Florida’s West Coast with an opening of a line to Tampa.
When the further planned extensions to Orlando and Tampa are complete, Brightline will provide a green alternative to flying between the 2 cities and Miami.
As solid aviation alternatives only really exist on the northeastern corridor between Boston and Washington D.C., Brightline is ahead of the game when it comes to the rest of the country.
