It’ll be easier than ever to fly between North America and the United Kingdom, thanks to British Airways’ “record-breaking” increase in flights between the 2 continents.

Here’s what you need to know.

British Airways Increases Frequency to North America

British Airways will offer more than 400 direct weekly flights to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico during the summer of 2025. The U.K.’s flag carrier will offer nonstop service to more than 2 dozen U.S. cities.

Here’s a look at some of the cities that will see increased service:

  • Miami (MIA): An additional 7 flights per week (14 total flights per week and 2x daily service year-round)
  • Austin (AUS): An additional 6 flights per week (13 total flights per week)
  • Las Vegas (LAS)An additional 3 flights per week during peak months (10 total flights per week)
  • Pittsburgh (PIT): 7 flights per week, becoming daily service
  • Washington, D.C. (IAD)An increase of 7 flights per week (21 total flights per week)

The airline will also boost service to and from Vancouver (YVR) up to 7 flights per week from London (LHR), bringing the total up to 14 flights per week during the summer peak travel season.

Commenting on the “record-breaking” increase in service, Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, said: “The U.S. remains a priority market for us, and we know these network changes will be welcomed by both our business and leisure customers, providing more options than ever before to travel between the U.K. and the USA.”

British Airways Avios are some of the easiest points you can earn. That’s thanks to transfer partners Amex Membership RewardsBilt RewardsCapital One MilesChase Ultimate Rewards, and Marriott Bonvoy. These points can be used for travel on British Airways and partners such as Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Iberia, and Qatar Airways.

However, booking British Airways flights with Avios may incur high fees and fuel surcharges — sometimes hundreds or thousands of dollars! In this case, your Avios are better used for redemptions such as the U.S. domestic flights, off-peak flights to Spain, or on flights to the Caribbean.

Final Thoughts

British Airways will boost service to North America, making it easy to travel across the Pond during the summer 2025 travel season. You’ll have several options for booking your flights with cash or points and miles. However, if you’re booking British Airways Avios using Avios, be mindful of the high fuel surcharges on those tickets.
