If you need Spirit Airlines Free Spirit points, the airline is offering an 80% bonus on purchased points through January 17. While Spirit Airlines points are fairly limited, there may be a few use cases where topping up your account at a discount can be worthwhile.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Buy Spirit Airlines Points With a Bonus

Between now and January 17, 2025, you can get an 80% bonus when buying Free Spirit points.

Unlike most offers, there is no tier for a higher bonus when buying more points. As long as you buy at least 1,000 points, you can receive the 80% bonus — up to a maximum purchase of 60,000 points. Paying $1,500 for 108,000 points makes each point cost 1.39 cents.

You can make your purchase here.

The transactions are processed by points.com, so unfortunately, you won’t earn any bonus points on “travel” or airfare. Additionally, points can take up to 72 hours to land in the member’s Free Spirit account.

Hot Tip:

To maximize your purchase, use your best credit card for everyday purchases. Another option is using this spending toward a lucrative new welcome offer on a credit card.

Using Free Spirit Points

Spirit’s Free Spirit program is entirely revenue-based, so the value of your points depends on the flight you’re redeeming for, starting at a minimum of 2,500 points. Unfortunately, there is a $50 fee for non-elite members if you’re booking a trip less than 28 days from departure, though trips booked in advance don’t incur a fee.

If you were to purchase the maximum of 60,000 Free Spirit points with this promotion, you’d come away with 108,000 points for $1,500. This means you could take 43 flights at the lowest 2,500-point rate. However, keep in mind that a flight costing 2,500 points is probably very cheap in cash as well.

At Upgraded Points, we value Free Spirit points at 1.1 cents per point, so we certainly wouldn’t advise speculatively purchasing points at this promotion’s 1.39-cents-per-point rate.

Spirit does not have any airline partners, so the use cases for these points are extremely limited, and the airline penalizes you for close-in bookings — a fee that many legacy carriers have gotten rid of. That said, Free Spirit points aren’t without merit, and purchasing can make sense if you’re redeeming points at a higher value than the price you paid for them.

Final Thoughts

For most people, buying Free Spirit points won’t sense. However, if you’re close to having enough points for an award, or have a planned use for these points, purchasing under this sale can be worth it. If you meet those conditions, you have until January 17 to buy Spirit points with an 80% bonus.
