Right now, you can take advantage of a rare opportunity to earn a bonus when transferring Capital One miles to Etihad’s Guest program.

Let’s take a look at all the details of this latest transfer bonus, which is valid through March 31, 2025.

Transfer Bonus From Capital One Miles and Select Hotel Points to Etihad Guest

Through March 31, 2025, you can transfer miles from Capital One to Etihad Guest and receive up to a 40% bonus.

Typically, the transfer ratio is 1:1, which means you’ll get 1,000 Etihad Guest miles for transferring 1,000 Capital One miles.

However, depending on the number of miles transferred, you can get a 20% to 40% transfer bonus for a limited time. This means that for every 1,000 Capital One miles transferred, you may potentially earn 1,400 Etihad Guest miles.

However, the transfer bonus is offered through Etihad, and not Capital One, so you won’t see the transfer bonus details in your Capital One Miles account. Instead, head directly to the Etihad Guest promotion page.

These are the bonus transfer rates:

  • Transfer up to 9,999 miles and receive a 20% bonus on each transfer.
  • Transfer 10,000 to 49,999 miles and receive a 30% bonus on each transfer.
  • Transfer 50,000+ miles and receive a 40% bonus on each transfer.

Note that you can also transfer your World of Hyatt points to Etihad miles at a 2.5 to 1 ratio in multiples of 5,000 points, along with your ALL – Accor Live Limitless points at a rate of 4,000 points to 2,000 Etihad miles. That said, these are both pretty poor transfer ratios so we would advise against it.

Is It Worth It?

While it’s always nice to see a new transfer bonus, Etihad’s program changes have made it harder to redeem miles for good value.

However, you can still get some value by using your Etihad Guest miles to book a premium cabin flight. Check out the distance-based award chart for Etihad flights:

For instance, a one-way Etihad business class flight from Chicago (ORD) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) covers 7,276 miles and costs 120,000 miles. By using the current transfer bonus, it would be possible to book this award for only 86,000 Etihad Guest miles with the 40% transfer bonus.

When Etihad devalued its partner flights, it also announced it would lower the prices of some of its own awards. This means that redeeming Etihad Guest miles for flights on the airline itself is now a more appealing option.

Hot Tip:

Etihad offers a mileage calculator that you can use to determine the number of miles you need for an award redemption.

Final Thoughts

You can get a bonus of up to 40% when you move miles from Capital One to Etihad Guest right now. Even though the program has undergone some pretty significant changes, you can still book premium seats on Etihad flights at a decent rate, and this transfer bonus makes it even sweeter.

Remember to transfer your points before March 31, 2025, in order to take advantage of the bonus.
