If you’re looking to extend the value of your Capital One miles, you can do so with a new transfer bonus to Flying Blue, the shared loyalty program of Air France and KLM. You’ll find a 20% transfer bonus right now, running through September 29, 2024.

Let’s check out the details.

Capital One Transfer Bonus to Flying Blue

There’s a lot to love about Flying Blue, the shared rewards program of Air France and KLM. Aside from some great award pricing, the program also runs monthly Promo Rewards in which certain award tickets are discounted.

There are also negatives to the program, of course. Taxes and fees on some awards can be expensive, and the cost (in miles) of some award tickets can be downright ridiculous when seats start filling up.

However, if you can navigate the negatives while taking advantage of the positives, Flying Blue can offer a lot of value in award travel.

Normally, Capital One miles transfer to Flying Blue at a 1:1 ratio. Through September 29, 2024, however, you can transfer at a 1:1.2 ratio. That’s a 20% transfer bonus, meaning 1,000 Capital One miles will become 1,200 Flying Blue miles.

You’ll see the bonus calculated directly on the transfer page, so there’s no guesswork involved.

Adding 20% to your transfer provides further value on your miles.

Hot Tip:

Unsure how to use Capital One transfer partners? Let us show you.

Is It Worth It?

Before you rush to transfer all of your miles, make sure this is the right move for you. First, remember that transfers are 1-way only, meaning you can’t send your miles back to Capital One. Thus, you should ensure you have a redemption plan in mind and that the award seats are available before moving any miles over.

Second, ensure booking your next award trip with Flying Blue is your best move. Sending your miles to a different program might be better, even without a transfer bonus, if that other award program charges less for the flight. Check redemptions with SkyTeam partners like Delta SkyMiles and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

What are some of the best redemptions with Flying Blue miles you can book during this transfer bonus? Consider a flight from the U.S. to Europe for 20,000 miles in economy, 35,000 in premium economy, or 50,000 miles per person in business class. Interestingly, North Africa is included in those prices, meaning you could continue to Tunisia, Morocco, or Algeria for 0 added miles. You also could fly from the U.S. mainland to Hawaii and back for 35,000 miles per person (round-trip).

Bottom Line:

Maybe Flying Blue offers the best redemption for your flight booking, but maybe it doesn’t. Ensure this is the right option before moving your miles, as you can’t change your mind after the fact.

Final Thoughts

Until September 29, you can get a 20% transfer bonus from Capital One to Flying Blue. That can open up great deals on award travel domestically with Delta or on flights to Europe with Air France and KLM, among other options.
