Flying Blue is the popular frequent flyer program operated and managed by the Air France-KLM group.

There is so much to love about this loyalty program — especially how easy it is to earn miles and how generously Air France releases business class award space to Paris.

The program’s beloved Promo Rewards allow you to get mileage discounts on a handpicked selection of Air France or KLM flights every month.

Let’s walk you through all there is to know about Promo Rewards.

What Are Air France-KLM Flying Blue Promo Rewards?

Air France-KLM Flying Blue has many superb features and things to love, including terrific award pricing on transatlantic flights in business class and economy class.

With Flying Blue, you can book coveted business class flights to Europe for as few as 37,500 miles one-way. It gets even better, though, because Flying Blue’s Promo Rewards can help you save 25% to 50% off of your award ticket.

How does it work? Every month, a list of flights eligible for Promo Rewards is published. Consistently on this list are intra-Europe flights, Canadian flights, and East Coast U.S. flights. And sure, while getting a discount on an economy flight from Paris to Rome might be nice, the reality is you’re probably not looking for these. You’re probably looking for long-haul flights. Luckily, Flying Blue Promo Rewards often include long-haul flights, making it easy for you to save big on your journey across the pond.

Flying Blue Promo Rewards come with a booking deadline and a travel window. This means you must book your eligible flight by a specific date for travel during a certain timeframe. You can book these flights as either one-ways or round-trips, which adds even more flexibility to your travel planning.

Hot Tip: Promo Rewards do not discount the taxes and fees you’ll be charged on a given award ticket, so you’ll still have to pay $200 to $300 in each direction when booking with Flying Blue miles

One of the biggest benefits of using the Flying Blue program, in general, is that you have expanded access to award availability on Air France and KLM flights, making it easy to find flights that suit your schedule.

How Do I Earn Flying Blue Miles?

It’s easy to earn Air France-KLM Flying Blue miles, especially from credit card spending.

That’s because Flying Blue has 1:1 transfer partnerships with all of the major flexible rewards currencies, including Amex Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Brex Rewards, Capital One Miles, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou Rewards. Transfers from these currencies are usually processed instantaneously.

It is also a 3:1 transfer partner with Marriott Bonvoy. Whenever you transfer 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points in a single transaction to Flying Blue, you’ll get a bonus of 5,000 miles, resulting in 25,000 Flying Blue miles earned.

Also, you can earn Flying Blue miles from flying on any partner airline and credit your flight to Flying Blue — that means you can earn Flying Blue miles when flying SkyTeam partners like Delta and Korean Air, among others.

Flying Blue Promo Rewards for April 2024

Flying Blue’s current Promo Rewards cover a booking timeframe of April 1 through April 30, 2024. As long as you make the booking before the end of the month, you should be able to take advantage of these deals.

As you can see, there are 12 short- or medium-haul routes and 12 long-haul routes eligible for Promo Rewards in April.

Finally, Promo Rewards are offered regardless of which direction you’re going. So if you see a Promo Reward for a route between any city and Europe, you should be able to book a Promo Reward in either direction.

Final Thoughts

Being able to book long-haul flights with a 25% to 50% discount is a fantastic benefit provided by Flying Blue’s Promo Rewards.

Remember that most Promo Rewards will be for short- and medium-haul flights. However, any time there’s a long-haul route to and from the U.S., that’s the cherry on top of the Promo Rewards cake.

Best of all, you can easily acquire the miles needed to book these awards thanks to a number of transfer partnerships with some of the biggest flexible rewards programs in the world.
