The first Capital One Lounge opened at DFW Airport in 2021. Since then, Capital One has opened 2 more lounges, one in Denver International Airport (DEN) and another in Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), plus more on the way.

These stylish lounges have shaken up the airport lounge experience with delicious grab-and-go food options, showers, state-of-the-art Peloton bikes, and cozy nap pods.

Now, flyers who wish to visit a Capital One lounge before their flight but don’t have an eligible Capital One credit card will be required to pay a higher fee for entry.

Here’s what you need to know about the increased Capital One lounge fee for non-cardholders.

Those with a Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card pay a reduced rate of $45 when visiting Capital One lounges. Those without an eligible Capital One card can still access Capital One lounges; however, they must pay the full fee for access.

Starting August 12, 2024, non-cardholder travelers can access Capital One lounges at a cost of $90, up from $65. When accompanied by a parent or guardian, young children under the age of 2 are still welcome to enter free of charge.

This move is a proactive step taken to address the issue of overcrowding, which has been a persistent problem in other lounge networks, such American Express Centurion Lounges and Delta Sky Clubs.

Capital One is taking deliberate steps to effectively manage capacity so that eligible Capital One Venture X and Capital One Venture X Business cardholders can experience shorter lines upon entering the lounge, easily find a seat, and enjoy delicious food and drink options without feeling crowded.

Hot Tip:

The Capital One Venture X card allows you to add up to 4 authorized users at no additional cost (rates & fees). Thus, if you don’t want to pay the new $90 entry fee to access Capital One lounges for non-cardholders, you can always apply for the Capital One Venture X card or be added as an authorized user to an existing cardholder.

Final Thoughts

To reduce overcrowding and improve the experience for eligible Capital One cardholders visiting one of the issuer’s impressive lounges, Capital One upped the entry fee from $65 to $90 for non-cardholders.

If you visit Capital One lounges frequently, you’ll be considerably better off with either the Capital One Venture X card or Capital One Venture X Business card, rather than paying $90 for each visit.
