Cayman Airways will soon resume its nonstop service between its home base in Grand Cayman (GCM) and Denver International Airport (DEN) in Colorado.

From February 26, 2022, the seasonal route between Denver and Grand Cayman will return with once-weekly service operated with the airline’s newest aircraft — the Boeing 737 MAX.

The airline partnered with the Ministry of Tourism and Transport to help relaunch the route, and it will be the third nonstop route to the U.S., joining Miami (MIA), New York (JFK), and Tampa (TPA).

Let’s take a look at the details.

Nonstop Flights From the Mountains to the Islands

Once Cayman Airways’ Denver flight resumes, Grand Cayman will join Nassau (NAS) in the Bahamas as only the second Caribbean destination served nonstop from the Mile-High City.

This nonstop flight will greatly reduce the time it takes to reach the Cayman Islands from Colorado’s largest city.

“Our nonstop service between Grand Cayman (GCM) and Denver (DEN) reduces the travel time to Cayman from typically between 9 and 11 hours using multiple flights to less than 5 hours,” said Paul Tibbets, Executive Vice President of Finance and Commercial Affairs for Cayman Airways.

The flight will operate just 1 rotation per week on Saturdays, making the perfect excuse to transport yourself from the snow to the sun for an entire week.

The schedule from February 26, 2022, through March 12, 2022, is as follows:

  • Depart Denver (DEN) 12:50 p.m. — Arrive Grand Cayman (GCM) 7:20 p.m.
  • Depart Grand Cayman (GCM) 9 a.m. — Arrive Denver (DEN) 11:30 a.m.

Due to daylight saving time, the flight times will differ by an hour from March 19, 2022, through August 6, 2022, the date on which the seasonal service comes to an end.

  • Depart Denver (DEN) 1:50 p.m. — Arrive Grand Cayman (GCM) 7:20 p.m.
  • Depart Grand Cayman (GCM) 9 a.m. — Arrive Denver (DEN) 12:30 p.m.

Passengers flying this new route will get to experience Cayman Airways’ Boeing 737 MAX aircraft — the most technologically advanced and modern aircraft in the carrier’s fleet.

For those who prefer to fly in business class, Cayman Airways’ 737 MAXs (the airline has 4 in its fleet) have 16 business class seats arranged in a 2-2 configuration across 4 rows. The economy cabin is comprised of 23 rows of seats arranged in a 3-3 configuration, typical for this aircraft.

Final Thoughts

Cayman Airways’ new Denver-Grand Cayman provides Coloradans a perfect excuse to take a vacation to the beautiful beaches and agreeable weather of the Cayman Islands.

Now, the only question is: will you stay for 1 week or 2?
