JPMorgan Chase and Coinbase are launching a new partnership that will make it much easier for Chase customers to purchase crypto using the U.S.’s most popular cryptocurrency exchange.

Here is a look at what this new partnership will offer to customers of both companies moving forward.

Chase and Coinbase Partnership Makes Purchasing Crypto Easier for Chase Customers

The partnership will begin with the following features to improve the customer experience and make it easier for Chase and Coinbase customers to purchase crypto using their Chase bank accounts, rewards, or Chase credit cards.

  • Direct Bank-to-Wallet Connection: You will be able to seamlessly link your Chase bank accounts to Coinbase wallets. This will allow you to transact in a fast and secure manner to purchase crypto using funds from your checking account.
  • Transfer of Chase Ultimate Rewards Points: Chase customers will be able to transfer their Chase Ultimate Rewards points to their Coinbase account at a 1 cent per point redemption rate. Your Chase Ultimate Rewards will be redeemed for the USDC stablecoin, at which point you can use this to purchase crypto on the Coinbase platform.
  • Use Chase credit cards on Coinbase: Coming soon, customers will have the ability to fund their Coinbase accounts using Chase credit cards.

That said, these benefits aren’t live just yet. Chase and Coinbase expect the direct bank-to-wallet and Chase Ultimate Rewards redemption features to go live in 2026, while the ability to use your Chase credit cards to fund a Coinbase account should be available in fall 2025.

These integrations mark another step forward for the cryptocurrency industry as it further integrates itself with the legacy financial system.

One question we do have, though, is whether the ability to fund your Coinbase account using your Chase credit cards will be treated as a cash advance, as if so, that would significantly limit the usefulness of that perk.

This news comes after an announcement in June that Coinbase had partnered with Cardless to launch a credit card on top of the American Express network that will earn up to 4% back in Bitcoin.

Final Thoughts

If you’re a customer of both Chase and Coinbase, your experience using both will soon be markedly improved thanks to these new features. Further, if you’ve got a large stash of Chase Ultimate Rewards points burning a hole in your pocket, you’ll soon be able to redeem those for crypto on the Coinbase platform.
