If you hold a Chase Sapphire Reserve® or Sapphire Reserve for Business℠, you’ll soon have even more flexibility when it comes to using your card’s hotel credits.

Beginning January 1, 2026, Chase is revamping the way its $500 The Edit by Chase Travel credit works and introducing a brand-new annual $250 credit for select Chase Travel hotel partners. These updates are a positive change for cardholders who want to maximize value on hotel stays booked through Chase Travel.

Here’s everything you need to know.

What’s Changing With the $500 The Edit Credit?

Currently, those with a Chase Sapphire Reserve card or Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card can enjoy a $500 annual credit for stays booked at The Edit by Chase Travel, Chase’s luxury hotel collection. However, it’s split into two $250 biannual credits available every 6 months. That means you can’t use the full $500 at once — let alone on the same day.

However, starting January 1, 2026, this restriction will be lifted. Cardmembers will be able to receive up to $250 for each prepaid booking with The Edit, up to $500 annually. That means you could book a stay on January 1, then another on January 2, and use your entire $500 credit right away — no waiting period required.

Keep in mind, though, that if you book back-to-back nights at the same property, you won’t be able to “double dip” on on-property benefits, even if you split your booking into 2 separate reservations.

This added flexibility is a welcome change for Sapphire Reserve cardholders. It gives them $500 annually through Chase Travel on The Edit luxury properties without waiting 6 months for a new $250 credit to become available. This makes planning luxury stays easier and allows travelers to maximize the value of their annual benefit on their own schedule — getting the credit on the first 2 qualifying bookings each year, whenever those are reserved.

Hot Tip:

If you hold a Chase Sapphire Reserve card, Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card, or J.P. Morgan Reserve Card, you have access to The Edit by Chase Travel, Chase’s curated luxury hotel collection. To get the most value, plan your stays around the new $500 annual credit flexibility. Book multiple separate stays to use the full credit sooner.

Introducing a New $250 Credit for Select Chase Travel Hotels

In addition to the changes to The Edit by Chase Travel $500 credit, Chase is adding a new $250 annual hotel credit starting in 2026. This benefit applies to prepaid bookings (with a 2-night minimum) made through Chase Travel at select partner brands, including:

  • IHG Hotels & Resorts
  • Montage Hotels & Resorts
  • Pendry Hotels & Resorts
  • Omni Hotels & Resorts
  • Virgin Hotels
  • Minor Hotels
  • Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts

Eligible bookings not only receive the $250 statement credit but also continue to earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points on the purchase cost above what’s covered by the credit, along with hotel loyalty program points for the full stay. That’s a valuable combination for travelers who want perks and points.

Final Thoughts

These upcoming changes are welcome news for cardholders of the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card. Whether you’re taking advantage of the more flexible The Edit by Chase Travel $500 credit or stacking value with the new $250 select hotel credit, there’s plenty of potential to offset your card’s annual fee while enjoying luxury stays.
