Did you know Chase offers the ability to earn and redeem points on vacation home rentals, available in its travel portal?

This new offering has received little attention, and that may be due to the fact it’s not available to all cardholders just yet. However, that’s set to change, as Chase has confirmed an expansion of its vacation homes offering on its portal next month.

Here’s what you should know.

Book Vacation Homes on Chase Travel

Chase recently soft-launched a Vacation Homes offering in the Chase Travel portal, and it’s presently available for those with Freedom and no-annual-fee Ink Business cards. However, it’s only available on 2 of my 3 cards that should be eligible when I check my account.

Access to vacation homes will expand in July to more cardholders, thanks to the refresh of the Chase Sapphire Reserve®. Though there’s no certain date for additional cardholders to gain access, Chase has confirmed that those with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and the new Chase Sapphire Reserve Business Card can search for vacation homes in its travel portal starting in July 2025.

How To Search for Vacation Homes on Chase Travel

The option to search for vacation homes gives cardholders access to private residences worldwide. A spokesperson for Chase says this includes thousands of properties at present, “ranging from cottages and villas to cabins and beach houses,” meaning there’s something for everyone.

To search for vacation homes, start by logging in to your Chase account and navigating to the travel portal. Alternatively, if you’re already logged in, head to this page. If you choose Stays at the top, you should see a Vacation Homes option next to Hotels above the search bar, asking for your destination.

If your Chase credit card doesn’t offer access just yet, you won’t see the Hotels and Vacation Homes buttons, and you’ll only be able to search for hotels in Chase’s search engine.

When choosing your travel dates, you’ll see a notice that hosts require a 7-day advance booking, so you won’t be able to book Vacation Homes with short notice.

After choosing your destination and travel dates — we picked Vancouver for this example, using a 1-night trip in November — search results display as you’d expect. Using a drop-down menu at the top right, you can sort by recommended results or by price.

The list of results shows a few pictures for each property, a property title, the type of property (condo, apartment, cottage, or home), the price per night, and an average rating. You’ll also see the price listed in Chase Ultimate Rewards points — more on that later.

For convenience, there’s also a map showing your search results, and you can zoom in to see where the properties are located.

A Filters button in the top right corner lets you find your ideal results. You can filter by property type or by amenities, such as parking, elevators, pool, and whether pets are allowed.

Clicking on a property, you’ll see how many reviews it has, the average review score, and the address. You’ll also find additional pictures and a Home details button to learn more about the property. You’ll also be able to adjust your travel dates and view a full list of the property’s amenities.

The cost is displayed clearly in cash and points, including an all-in price with taxes and fees.

Earning Points on Chase Travel’s Vacation Homes

Bookings in Chase’s travel portal — whether they’re vacation homes, flights, or something else — follow a standard structure for earning rewards, based on the credit card you have.

For example, you’ll earn 8x points spent with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, while you’ll earn 5x points in the travel portal with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, 5% cash-back with the Chase Freedom Flex®, and 1% cash-back with the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card.

Hot Tip:

If you have a Chase credit card that earns cash-back and another card that earns Ultimate Rewards, you can combine them to use your cash-back rewards as points, providing you with more redemption options.

Redeeming Points on Chase’s Vacation Homes

With the launch of Chase’s new Points Boost feature on June 23, 2025, the way you redeem points in the travel portal will change going forward. Previously, cardholders could redeem points toward travel for 1 cent, 1.25 cents, or 1.5 cents apiece, based on the card they hold.

However, once Points Boost rolls out across the board, Chase cardholders will redeem points with an “up to 2 cents per point” value, but only select hotels and flights will be eligible for these boosted values. Everything else, from cruises and activities to vacation homes and event tickets, will fetch a value of 1 cent per point when redeeming your Chase points — which isn’t great.

Thankfully, existing Chase cardholders who applied before June 23, 2025, can redeem any points earned through October 26, 2025, at the current rates on Chase Travel through October 26, 2027 — including for vacation homes.

We value Chase points at 2 cents apiece, so using them toward a vacation home rental at half that number should be avoided if possible. However, if you’re sitting on a lot of points, you want to defray the cost of a trip, then this may be your only option for using points toward your trip.

Final Thoughts

Chase is expanding its new vacation homes offering, giving access to more cardholders in the Chase Travel portal starting in July. There’s no firm date for this expansion, and the value for using your points on these reservations isn’t ideal.

However, if you have access to these reservations and decide this is a fair way to use points in your situation, then it can make sense. Just be sure to evaluate your options.
