If you have a stash of Choice Privileges points — and maybe a friend or family member who does, too — you can now combine them into a much larger pot.

Choice Hotels has launched a new points-sharing feature, allowing Choice Privileges members to transfer points to friends and family for free. That could make it much easier to turn several smaller balances into enough points for an award stay.

Here’s how the new feature works.

Choice Privileges Members Can Now Share Points for Free

Choice Privileges members can now transfer points to friends and family without paying a fee, which could be especially helpful if you have points spread across several accounts.

For example, if you’re a few thousand points short of booking an award night but your spouse has points in their account, you can transfer those points and apply them toward the redemption. Or maybe you and several family members each have smaller balances that aren’t enough for an award stay on their own. Instead of letting those points sit unused, you can combine them into 1 account and potentially have enough for a redemption.

Best of all, Choice won’t be charging a fee for its members to transfer points. That’s particularly useful because you don’t have to do the math to figure out whether paying a transfer fee is worth it just to consolidate several balances.

The new feature is also part of a broader overhaul of the Choice Privileges program. Choice has introduced milestone rewards, faster paths to elite status, and a new top-tier Titanium status, giving members more ways to earn benefits as they stay with Choice.

Hot Tip:

Before your next Choice redemption, check the balances of friends or family members you’re traveling with. Pooling points could get you to an award night without having to go through the costly process of buying Choice points.

Final Thoughts

Choice Privileges has rolled out several changes to its loyalty program this year, and free points sharing is another welcome addition. Members can now combine points with friends and family without paying a fee, making smaller balances easier to consolidate and redeem for free nights.

If you have Choice points sitting across multiple accounts, you now have another option for getting more value from them.
