The vibrant culture and tropical climate of Rio de Janeiro (GIG) are closer than ever thanks to these round-trip fares from New York (JFK) with Delta in economy starting at just $513.

The best part is they’re available in January when it’s cold and bleak in New York!

Let’s take a look at these fares in more detail and how you can book for yourself.

Fare Details

Fares this low to Rio usually mean at least 1 stop, probably with an airline you might not have flown before. Not this time: these nonstop round-trip fares are with Delta on its Boeing 767 aircraft.

They’re only available for a short time in January, which is a great time to visit and escape the post-Christmas winter blues in the freezing Northeast.

  • Class: Economy
  • Routes: New York (JFK) to Rio de Janeiro (GIG)
  • Dates: January 2025
  • Rates: From $513 round-trip

Fares are available towards the end of January and are overnight flights in both directions:

JFK to Rio with Delta in Jan
Fly from New York to Rio in economy for just $513 round-trip.

As these are Basic Economy fares, unless you’re Delta SkyMiles Medallion elite or enjoy extra perks and benefits when flying Delta thanks to an Amex Delta credit card, you’ll have to pay for extras such as a checked bag, and you will be one of the last to board.

If you don’t fit into either of those categories and want to check a bag, you might consider upgrading to a Main Cabin economy fare for an extra $140 — the same price as adding a checked bag to a Basic Economy ticket. You’d also benefit from free seat selection, earlier boarding, and no-fee ticket changes (albeit with a potential fare difference to pay).

Best Ways To Book

Hop on to Google Flights and play around with the handy Explore tool until you’ve found dates that suit you.

When you’re ready to book, we recommend using a travel credit card that will reward you for booking flights. For example, The Platinum Card® from American Express will earn you 5x points per dollar spent on flights when booked through the AmexTravel.com portal or directly with the airline (up to $500,000 per year; then 1x points).

Hot Tip:

Having an Amex Platinum card can also get you lounge access — even if you’re flying in economy — thanks to Centurion Lounge access and the Priority Pass membership (upon enrollment) that come as benefits of the card.

Final Thoughts

When it comes to flying to Rio from New York, it doesn’t get much better than a nonstop flight with Delta from just $513!

Boa viagem!
