As we say goodbye to summer 2026, Delta is already giving us a reason to look forward to a longer summer 2027 season.

The Atlanta-headquartered carrier has confirmed Boston (BOS) to Venice (VCE) and Detroit (DTW) to Athens (ATH) as new additions to its European route network.

Delta’s New Routes to Athens and Venice

Hot on the heels of the recent Austin (AUS) to Paris (CDG) announcement, Delta is back with 2 new leisure-focused routes for 2027.

The details of the routes are as follows.

As the only airline to operate nonstop flights on each route, Delta is bringing new and exciting travel possibilities to residents of Boston, Detroit, and their surrounding areas.

The addition of Venice from Boston brings the total of Delta’s nonstop routes to Europe for summer 2027 to 12. The route will be only the seventh nonstop connection between the U.S. and The Floating City.

And from Delta’s second-largest hub at Detroit, the new service to Athens marks its sevent nonstop route to Europe — its 12th unique nonstop long-haul service for summer 2027.

Both routes will be operated by the airline’s older fleet of Airbus A330-200 and Airbus A330-300 jets. Though not as modern and high-tech as newer Airbus A350 and Airbus A330-900s, they still have lie-flat Delta One seats for travelers wishing to add a little extra luxe to their vacations.

Delta Extends Summer Season Schedule

In addition to new routes, Delta is giving its travelers a wider window to visit Europe by extending seasonal service and increasing frequencies.

Routes returning earlier in the spring include:

Atlanta (ATL) to Edinburgh (EDI) in March
Boston (BOS) to Barcelona (BCN) in April
Detroit (DTW) to Rome (FCO) in March
JFK to Catania (CTA), Italy, in March
JFK to Copenhagen (CPH) in March
JFK to Prague (PRG) in April
JFK to Porto (OPO), Portugal, in March
Minneapolis (MSP) to Rome (FCO) in March
Seattle (SEA) to Barcelona (BCN) in April
SEA to Rome (FCO) in April

The extended schedule makes it possible to travel to Europe outside the more expensive, heatwave-prone peak summer dates that season routes typically cover.
