Today is the day. After nearly 7 years, Delta is once again operating flights between the U.S. and Hong Kong (HKG), this time from Los Angeles (LAX).

Here’s everything you need to know about the new route.

What To Know About Delta’s New Routes

Last summer, Delta announced 2 new routes from Los Angeles International Airport starting in June 2026: Hong Kong (HKG) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD). While the flights to Chicago won’t begin until tomorrow, the nonstop service between Los Angeles and Hong Kong starts today.

The daily 7,260-mile route will be operated by the Airbus A350-900, Delta’s flagship wide-body. The 4-class jet features 40 lie-flat Delta One suites, Delta Premium SelectDelta Comfort+, and Delta Main.

Passengers flying in Delta One will have access to the Delta One Lounge at LAX. The lounge has plenty of amenities, including a sushi bar, a restaurant, an outdoor terrace, shower rooms, and a wellness room with full-body massage chairs.

Unfortunately, Delta will have tough competition on this route. Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific operates 3 daily nonstop flights between Hong Kong and Los Angeles. Meanwhile, United Airlines operates 2 daily nonstop flights.

The Hong Kong launch is part of a broader Delta expansion at LAX, where the airline operates as the largest global carrier, serving more than 50 destinations. Delta is banking on its premium service, reliable connectivity, and the strength of its Los Angeles hub to win travelers over.

Hong Kong is one of Asia’s most critical business and travel hubs. Delta last served Hong Kong from Seattle back in October 2018. This new route unlocks more than 30 convenient one-stop connections to and from LAX.

How To Book

If you’re looking to book these flights, fares are available using both cash and points.

Flights in economy start at $720 one-way, while Delta One flights start at $3,300.

Of course, you can redeem Delta SkyMiles for Delta awards. However, since Delta is also a member of the SkyTeam alliance, its flights can be booked with points through partners like Air France-KLM Flying Blue or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

Final Thoughts

Delta begins its daily nonstop flight between Los Angeles and Hong Kong today. This is a welcome SkyTeam addition to an already competitive market, and it’s a major move on Delta’s part as it provides a more robust network to even more Asian destinations.
