Delta Air Lines is planning a major expansion from Los Angeles (LAX), with 2 brand-new routes and more flights to several existing destinations rolling out over the coming months.

By the peak of summer 2027, Delta and its partners will operate more than 200 daily departures from LAX, which will be the airline’s largest schedule ever at the airport.

Let’s look at what’s coming.

Delta Goes Big at LAX With New Routes and More Flights

Delta is adding 2 new routes from Los Angeles, with nonstop flights to Monterey (MRY) and Philadelphia (PHL).

Twice-daily flights to Monterey will begin December 19, 2026, using an Embraer 175. The route will make it easier to visit Carmel-by-the-Sea, the Monterey Peninsula, and the ever-popular Big Sur. Delta will also begin daily service between Salt Lake City (SLC) and Monterey on the same day.

Philadelphia is the other new addition, with daily flights from Los Angeles launching June 7, 2027, aboard an Airbus A321neo.

Final Thoughts

Delta is going big in Los Angeles next summer, adding new routes to Monterey and Philadelphia while increasing flights to several other cities.

The additional frequencies should give travelers more options and flexibility, particularly on busy routes to Boston, Seattle, San Diego, and Texas. Now we’ll have to wait and see where Delta’s next new route from Salt Lake City will go.
