There’s some big news from Delta Air Lines today. The Atlanta-based carrier is boosting its presence in Africa with plans to add nonstop flights to Marrakech (RAK) this fall. Additionally, the airline will add seasonal service to Accra (ACC).

Here’s what you need to know.

New Delta Flights to Africa

Delta will begin 3x weekly flights from Atlanta (ATL) to Marrakech (RAK), starting October 25, 2025. Delta will fly its 4-cabin Boeing 767-400ER aircraft, which features Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin.

That’s not all. Atlanta is getting another flight to Africa: Delta will add seasonal flights to Accra, Ghana (ACC), joining the existing daily service from New York (JFK). Like the JFK-ACC route, the ATL-ACC route will be flown on the Airbus A330-900neo. Service between Atlanta and Accra will start on December 1, 2025, to meet winter travel demands.

Should you want to continue your journey onward with a SkyTeam partner, you have several options at RAK: Air France, Air Europa, and Saudia.

“Whether discovering Morocco or reconnecting with loved ones in Ghana, these routes enhance our network while reinforcing Atlanta’s role as the world’s largest global hub,” said Paul Baldoni, Delta’s senior vice president of network planning.

Bookings don’t appear to be available yet, though we can guess how much they might cost, based on existing routes.

For instance, round-trip economy tickets between New York and Accra cost between $900 and $1,800 over the next few months. Of course, you can also book with Delta SkyMiles. One-way tickets start at 98,000 SkyMiles in economy and can be even cheaper if you have a SkyMiles credit card from American Express.

Delta Increasing Its Presence in Africa

Delta has a pretty impressive presence in Africa, and the new route to Marrakech only confirms it.

In addition to North and West Africa, Delta also offers nonstop flights to Johannesburg (JNB) and Cape Town (CPT) from Atlanta. Delta uses the Airbus A350 aircraft for these routes.

The airline also flies from New York to Dakar, Senegal (DSS) and Lagos, Nigeria (LOS), in addition to Accra, and also flies between Atlanta and Lagos. Last year, Delta resumed JFK-LOS flights after axing the route back in 2022, citing the “current demand environment.”

Two of the Big 3 U.S. airlines fly direct to Africa, and Delta isn’t the first to fly direct to Marrakech. United Airlines offers seasonal service to RAK from Newark (EWR), and the airline also offers several other nonstop flights across the continent.

Hot Tip:

Final Thoughts

Delta is adding new service from its Atlanta hub to Marrakech and starting seasonal service to Accra. This is excellent news for travelers heading to or from the continent, as more nonstop options indicate that Delta sees Africa as a huge investment. We hope this is a sign of more nonstop routes to come!
