Delta SkyMiles don’t always get as much love as other airline rewards currencies, mainly because Delta doesn’t publish an award chart and redemption rates can be all over the place.

Still, that doesn’t mean SkyMiles aren’t valuable. If you know where to look, you can get excellent value from them. And with the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card now offering its best-ever 200,000-mile welcome offer, eligible new cardmembers have plenty of miles to put toward future trips.

From discounted domestic flights to international premium cabin awards, here are 7 ways I’d put that welcome offer bonus to good use.

Delta Reserve Business Card’s 200K Welcome Offer

For a limited time, the Delta Reserve Business card is offering 200,000 bonus miles after you spend $20,000 on purchases within the first 6 months of card membership. The offer ends November 4, 2026.

Based on our valuation of Delta SkyMiles at 1.2 cents each, the welcome offer could be worth around $2,400 — though the value you actually receive would depend on how you redeem your miles.

The Delta Reserve Business card has a $650 annual fee (rates & fees), but it also comes packed with benefits for frequent Delta flyers. These include 15 Delta Sky Club visits each Medallion Year, complimentary Centurion Lounge access when you fly Delta on a ticket purchased with the card, an annual companion certificate after renewal, and a 15% discount on Delta-operated award flights through the TakeOff 15 benefit.

Cardholders also receive a $2,500 Medallion Qualification Dollars head start each Medallion Qualification Year, earn $1 MQD for every $10 spent on the card, and can take advantage of annual statement credits for eligible Delta Stays, Resy, and ride-share purchases. Enrollment is required for some benefits.

Although the welcome bonus requires a hefty $20,000 in spending, this offer makes the most sense for business owners who can comfortably meet it through planned expenses without carrying a balance. But if you can, 200,000 SkyMiles provides plenty for building 1 big trip — or several smaller ones.

Delta SkyMiles Frequent Flyer Program

1. Fly the Whole Family to the Caribbean for Under 8,000 Miles per Person

Some of my favorite ways to redeem Delta SkyMiles aren’t for premium cabin flights. Sometimes it’s more rewarding to use them for a practical trip that brings the whole family along.

For example, I found Delta flights from New York (JFK) to Montego Bay (MBJ), Jamaica, that start at just 9,400 SkyMiles one-way. Since Delta Reserve Business cardholders receive a 15% discount on Delta-operated award flights through TakeOff 15, dropping the price to roughly 7,900 miles per person.

With 200,000 SkyMiles, you could take your immediate family — and extended family or friends — to the Caribbean and still have miles left over.

It may not be the flashiest redemption on this list, but turning one welcome offer into a memorable group vacation can be one of the most rewarding ways to use miles.

2. Experience Delta One to Europe From 106,250 Miles

Delta One business class awards can be notoriously expensive, but you can still find reasonable rates if you’re flexible with your destination and travel dates.

At the time of writing, I found Delta One flights to Europe for 125,000 SkyMiles one-way. With the Delta Reserve Business card’s TakeOff 15 benefit, that price dropped to 106,250 miles per person.

After earning the 200,000-mile welcome offer bonus and the usual miles from meeting the card’s $20,000 spending requirement, you’d have at least 220,000 SkyMiles. That would be enough to book 2 one-way Delta One tickets to Europe at this price.

Considering these tickets can easily cost more than $2,000 per person, this single redemption could get you over $4,000 in value from the Delta Reserve Business card’s welcome offer. You’d also get to cross the Atlantic in a lie-flat seat, which makes this one of the more exciting ways to put the welcome offer bonus to use.

Hot Tip:

Before booking, I recommend reading our step-by-step guide to the best ways to book Delta One business class with points — you may find an even better option than using SkyMiles.

3. Get to Seoul From Tokyo in Korean Air Business Class for 15,000 Miles

One of the most common itineraries for U.S. travelers visiting Asia is pairing Tokyo (NRT, HND) with Seoul (ICN), spending a few days in Japan before hopping over to South Korea. That makes Korean Air business class a great way to stretch your Delta SkyMiles, as you can fly between both countries for just 15,000 SkyMiles one-way in business class.

I actually made this exact trip with my mom last year, and using miles for a short business class flight like this is an easy way to make the journey between 2 incredible cities a little more comfortable.

Just keep in mind that the business-class experience can vary by aircraft, so it’s worth checking which Korean Air plane will be operating your flight before booking.

4. Book LATAM Business Class From Lima to São Paulo for 50,900 Miles

Another compelling way to use Delta SkyMiles is for LATAM business class within South America. I found awards from Lima (LIM), Peru, to São Paulo (GRU), Brazil, for 50,900 SkyMiles one-way, meaning the 200,000-mile welcome offer bonus can get you enough miles for 4 one-way business class tickets after you meet the spending requirement.

Even better, this isn’t just a standard recliner for the nearly 5-hour flight. LATAM operates Boeing 767s on the route with its newest lie-flat business class seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, giving every passenger direct aisle access.

For travelers combining Peru and Brazil on the same South America trip, this can be an excellent way to use SkyMiles for a swanky flight between the 2 countries.

5. Add Istanbul to a European Vacation for 25,000 Miles in Business Class

If you’re already planning a trip to Europe, Delta SkyMiles can also be useful for adding another destination without spending a fortune on airfare.

For example, after spending a few days in Paris (CDG, ORY), you could continue your trip to Istanbul (IST) on Delta partner Air France for 25,000 SkyMiles one-way in business class.

Delta CDG IST

At this rate, the 200,000-mile welcome offer bonus could cover up to 8 one-way business class flights.

You won’t get a lie-flat seat on this shorter flight, but it’s still a great way to use your SkyMiles to visit another destination and turn a European vacation into a multicountry trip.

Hot Tip:

Don’t just think about using Delta SkyMiles to fly Delta. As you can see from some of our examples, you can also redeem SkyMiles for SkyTeam airlines and Delta’s other partners. This opens up many opportunities to use your miles around the world while trying different airlines and premium cabin products along the way.

6. Stretch Your SkyMiles With Short-Haul Domestic Awards From 4,800 Miles

I like using Delta SkyMiles for inexpensive domestic awards, especially when I want to visit friends in Atlanta or New York from South Florida. When I can find a good rate, I’d rather use a small stash of SkyMiles and keep the cash in my pocket — and a 200,000-mile welcome offer bonus can go a long way this way.

For example, I found one-way awards between Los Angeles (LAX) and Las Vegas (LAS) starting at just 4,800 SkyMiles in Main Cabin. If you want to fly a little more comfortably, I also found Delta Comfort for fewer than 10,000 miles and first class for fewer than 15,000 miles one-way.

Delta economy awards
SkyMiles can offer great value on short domestic hops. Screenshot: Delta Air Lines website

You may also find cheap fares on other short domestic routes, such as New York (LGA) to Boston (BOS) or Atlanta (ATL) to Raleigh-Durham (RDU), North Carolina. Delta uses dynamic award pricing, so rates can vary considerably by route and date, but it’s always worth checking SkyMiles prices before paying cash for a short flight.

With rates this low, even a handful of domestic trips would barely make a dent in a 200,000-mile balance.

7. Take the Family to Australia With a Single Welcome Offer Bonus

Australia can be one of the more expensive destinations to reach from the U.S., which makes finding a reasonable SkyMiles award especially appealing.

I found one-way Delta awards to Melbourne (MEL), Australia, from Los Angeles for 42,400 SkyMiles in economy or 102,000 SkyMiles in Delta Comfort, including the 15% savings from the Delta Reserve Business card’s TakeOff 15 benefit.

Delta LAX MEL pricing
Offset notoriously expensive Australia airfare with SkyMiles. Screenshot: Delta Air Lines website

At the economy rate, the 200,000-mile welcome offer bonus could cover 2 round-trip tickets to Australia with more than 30,000 miles left over. If you’d rather have extra space for the long journey, the bonus gets you enough for 2 one-way Delta Comfort tickets after you meet the spending requirement.

Either way, this is a great example of how TakeOff 15 can help stretch a large welcome bonus even further when redeeming SkyMiles for an otherwise pricey long-haul trip.

Final Thoughts

There’s no single best way to use 200,000 Delta SkyMiles, and that’s part of what makes a welcome offer this large so valuable.

Personally, I’d be just as happy stretching my miles across several trips as I would using most of them for a single, memorable premium cabin redemption. Whether it’s a quick domestic flight, a partner business class award, or a trip all the way to Australia, 200,000 SkyMiles gives you plenty of options.
