Capital One’s acquisition of Discover closed over a year ago, in the first half of 2025, but not much changed for Discover cardholders until recently.

Now, cardholders are transitioning into the Capital One ecosystem, and new benefits are rolling out with that transition.

We’re seeing bonus earnings in (and access to) the travel portal, access to Capital One Offers, and even syncing across Discover and Capital One credit cards under the same login.

Have a Discover credit card? Here’s what you need to know.

Capital One and Discover: The Backstory

Capital One completed its acquisition of Discover in May 2025, and then … things went mostly quiet. It wasn’t until May of 2026 that we learned some Discover cards would transition to Capital One.

However, for many cardholders, things haven’t looked any different from before the acquisition.

New Benefits for Discover Cardholders

For those with the Discover it® Cash Back Card who are transitioning to Capital One, there are several new features and benefits available. And while we’ve only confirmed this with our own Discover Cash Back card accounts, we assume the same features should apply to the Discover it® Miles Card accounts transitioning to Capital One.

First, cardholders who now manage their accounts through Capital One have access to Capital One Offers, the promotional page that offers bonus miles and cash-back on various purchases. These offers are targeted and can vary from person — and they can also be very lucrative.

Cardholders also have access to the Capital One Travel portal now. And while that’s nice in and of itself, the best part is that these cardholders earn bonus rewards on travel bookings. Cardholders earn 5% cash-back or 5x miles on hotels, vacation rentals, rental cars, and activities booked through the portal.

Additionally, cardholders can apply their rewards to purchases from across their Discover and Capital One credit cards. This integration to apply miles or cash-back from across products makes redemptions easy.

Final Thoughts

For Discover cardholders transitioning to Capital One, the process hasn’t been entirely seamless. However, cardholders are starting to see new perks after creating a Capital One online account — or adding their Discover card to it if they’re an existing Capital One account holder.

Cardholders now have access to Capital One Offers and Capital One Travel, with bonus earnings available in the travel portal. Plus, cardholders can now redeem rewards from across their accounts.
